You can only choose one, so choose wisely and justify your answer. I vote Earthling. Very unique and fun to listen to.
It's difficult to choose, but I voted "Low".
I'm right now listening to "Blackstar" for the first time - it's amazing! For now, 4,5/5.
>>61487148
He really does have a large catalog of.great albums
>not voting blackstar
>bfw
>>61487727
Most artists and bands I listen to, I have a clear cut favorite album, one that stands out heads and shoulders above the rest. With Bowie I literally can't choose.
>>61486626
>justify your answer
get bent
Ziggy isn't my personal favorite but it's the most "perfect" Bowie album to my mind.
Ziggy Stardust The Motion Picture Soundtrack
Only few albums of Bowie can be considered bad, the others are all very good. Bowie is one of the few musicians that created masterpieces of different music genres (he sometimes even gave birth to new genres). I could have chosen Ziggy, Low, Heroes, Diamond Dogs or even Outside, but at the end I chose Hunky Dory:
- not for casual Bowie listeners (is there even one?)
- one of the greatest songwriter/acoustic albums within its period
- features some of his best lyrics (Quicksand, Changes, Life on Mars, Eight Lines Poem...)
- I have the Ryko LP version and it's fucking awesome!
>>61489785
I'm not going to lie, I really love Bombers. ALL CLEEEEAAARRRR, RAANNNG THE SIIIIIIIIIIIRUHNS.
>>61489785
shut up fag
>>61489817
If I'm not wrong, the Ryko LP contains an alternate version of Bombers as bonus track. It's not my fav song in the album though.
"Heroes" is a 10/10 masterpiece so I voted for it :)
>vote Man Who Sold The World because it's my current favourite
>see Space Oddity, which was my favourite for years, have 0 votes
regret
>>61489951
>>see Space Oddity, which was my favourite for years
I know that feel bro. Can't get enough of Cygnet Committee
>Lodger got only 2 votes, and 1 was mine
/mu/ has gone full plebian
>>61490019
That was my absolute favourite for a while. Has always been my favourite of the trilogy.
>>61490019
Lodger is great but it ain't his best.
it's up there tho. like top 3 perhasps
>not voting for low
I voted for "Let's Dance" because it comes from my favorite era of popular music, I like dance-oriented music, it has some fantastic songs + it's really fun and that's what's the most important to me in music
>>61490228
Low is overrated as fuck
>dated production
>clearly they had no idea how synths worked, it could easily be called "init patch;the album"
>the best songs sound just like old songs remade with "modern production". example: "sound and vision" = "golden years"
In Heroes at least they learned what filters are for, but the second half is boring as fuck
Lodger is all over the place but created the blueprint for "Scary Monsters" which is one of his best (if not THE best), and has some killer tracks
the whole "berlin triology" is not that good DESU, and wasn't even recorded in Berlin
>>61490321
fag
>>61489987
> 2005
> listen to Space Oddity album for the first time
> "Space Oddity is probably the only good song in this album"
> play the first songs, yeah good but nothing special
> Cignet Committee arrives
> "holy shit"
I was about to drop that album, I'm glad I didn't. One of my fav songs at all.
>>61486626
I like almost everything he has put out, so it's hard to choose. But I chose "Heroes" because to me it sounds like a cohesive whole, and the Berlin background and the title track play an important role to that.
>>61490374
> Low = overrated
> Heroes = so and so
> Scary Monsters = MASTERPIECE!!
There's only one overrated thing here and it's your taste.
Only right choices are Low and Ziggy
>>61486626
I chose Lodger because I actually really like it, and also I'm a contrarian dickhead
>>61490374
>"init patch;the album"
>implying sound design stood in way of musical content
>warsawza
>all other instruments didn't matter
>can't stand slow or instrumental pieces on heroes
>mad over titles
>>61491056
at least you admit it
pretty sure Hunky Dory is the best
>>61490784
>There's only one overrated thing here and it's your taste
you realize this is an anonymous board right?
>>61491459
Every Bowie album has at least 1 good track, some have more. "warsawa" is GOAT, but the rest of the album ain't all that, and that track could be even better if they just added some cutoff, or used real strings
also:
overrated =/= bad
Unfortunately Bowie is one of those artists that are gr8 but never released a 10/10 album.
I blame it on the cocaine
>>61492194
>you realize this is an anonymous board right?
What are you implying?
> Bowie never released a 10/10 album
Noone else did then
>Ziggy plebs
>>61492194
>blame it on the cocaine
He said IT'S NOT THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE COCAINE
>>61492194
>that track could be even better if they just added some cutoff
1st year "producer" gtfo
Memory of the Free Festival is a severely underrated track.
It's not my favourite but baka at yet another list without Buddha of Suburbia in it.
>>61492677
It really is, I love that song.
>Tin Machine
>Tin Machine II
what the fuck are those
Ziggy isn't all that guys!
Also I went Scary Monsters, the most unique sounding, cold, and alien album he's ever made.
I voted for Never Let Me Down :3
Why is The Buddha of Suburbia not on the list? It was an alright album, Strangers When We Meet is one of his best songs.
>>61494220
a shitty side-project. Shouldn't be on this list.
Low > "Heroes" > Station to Station > Hunky Dory > Aladdin Sane > Ziggy > Scary Monsters > the rest
>not being able to chose multibale answers
ITS NOT THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE COCAINE
I'm glad to see that his definitive top 5 filled out the top 5 positions in this poll.
Link for Blackstar?
For the sake of discussion,
The Next Day suffers from being too long and having a nonsense tracking order. I submit to you The Next Day, 8.5 BNM edition
Side 1
1. If You Can See Me
2. I'd Rather Be High (Venetian Mix)
3. The Stars (Are Out Tonight)
4. Where Are We Now?
5. Valentines Day
6. Plan
Side 2
6. Dirty Boys
7. Boss Of Me
8. How Does The Grass Grow?
9. Heat
>>61498545
I don't see the title track on there.
>>61498730
It comes with The Next Day 8.5 BNM Edition Extra
>>61498545
Replace heat with You'll set the world on fire.
It's gotta be Hunky Dory
A solid 10/10
>>61498481
There's no good quality rip yet.
I voted Low.
I voted for Low because I am not a cuckold.
>Ziggy is #1
PLEBS, THE LOT OF YOU
>>61492194
Ugh, Warszawa is easily the worst song on Low along with Weeping Wall. Get some taste drone.
"Heroes" is clearly his best album because
>Robert Fripp
>most idiosyncratic vocals of any Bowie album
>most consistently good songwriting
>great attention to detail
>unconventional song structures
>Robert Fripp
Low is a close second but clearly inferior.
>>61503742
Heroes sounds new every time I listen to it. I never expect what's coming next.
Heathen
It's on what.cd. It's a mono vinyl rip.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSt9RDIIa0k
The good ones are on his youtube channel.
>Station to station only at 4th place
Man, I should also create a strawpoll to know the answer to why /mu/ is so full of plebs
Why doesn't Alladin Sane get more love? That's pretty much Ziggy part 2.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DavidBowie/comments/3zfdfa/poll_what_is_the_greatest_david_bowie_album/
maybe this explains why the poll has so many pleb answers
>>61506284
>people naming all his recent albums
WTF? Yeah he's doing better then most musicians that have been around that long, but if you seriously think his stuff from the last decade is better then his prime then you're just wrong.
I voted Let's Dance because it has his two best songs (self titled and China Girl)
Voted Hunky Dory just because I was listening to it yesterday. Hard to choose a favorite, I like all his albums for different reasons.
>>61506324
>WTF?
are you from that thread
