what's up
Did anyone else here buy the LSD and the Search for God tape that was released a couple months back? It sounds fine as far as cassettes go, but I feel like the quality doesn't really do anything good for the ep. I mean, it's unfitting for LSD's sound. They have this sort of sleek, glossy guitar tone that no other shoegaze band has, so it seriously stood out from all the other heavily distorted stuff for me. The cassette pressing making it fuzzy wasn't the best for the EP cause of this. Does anyone else have thoughts on it?
>>61462075
I can't get into blackgaze like this. I like black metal, but all this fantasy-sounding shit just isn't for me.

Thanks for this.
Does anyone have any home-recorded, lo-fi sounding dream pop here? I like barlow, but I'm not looking for stuff in the dream pop side of things.
>>61462238
Beach Bodies by Smilling Disease
Opinion on new DIIV? Haven't heard it myself but I'm hyped as fuck, since I loved Oshin.
>>61462350
I was trying to think of other lo-fi shugazi artists I liked, but I kept drawing blanks. Yeah I already know Smiling Disease, thinking about getting that cassette.
>>61462172
Same.
>>61462371
mmmm maybe Flying Saucer Attack? Although you probably know them as well. Can't really think of lo-fi shoegaze either. Bandcamp should be full of it though.
>>61462350
>Opinion on new DIIV
I liked it, it was enjoyable to listen to, though it sounded kind of lazy at a few points, not much has changed in their sound. If you like Oshin you'll like this.
>>61462408
Yeah, I like FSA too, I guess it's time to start searching through bandcamp.
>>61462172
Les Discrets have a cool feeling to them that I haven't found in many other bands. The French blackgaze sound is distinctive, and they are perhaps the best example of it. Kind of folky and grim without being "heavy".
>>61462487
but heavy shoegaze is the best shoegaze ...
Anyone going?
So A Place to Bury Strangers just announced a show in SF for today. Is anyone going?
>>61463459
Is it normal to announce a show the day of?
>>61464155
probably not

Nothing really. I wanna look for a gaze show to go to pretty soon.

>>61462454

>>61466476
Thanks man, I haven't heard the bonus album's though. I'll probably buy them someday.
>>61466475
I didn't like it much either, at first. Wasn't until I revisited that I really appreciated it.
>>61466568
From what I remember, I did enjoy the little noise/sound collage bits. They reminded me of The New Blockaders.
>>61463403
This anon that was afraid to go alone might be going.
Also just a general question for shugazi. When a band has even a slight amount of shoegaze and a guy says hey this sounds like mbv, do you guys die a little bit inside? Like i get that shoegaze is kinda of a niche genre but the fact that literally most of the people can only mind to compare something to loveless...I dont know if that happens on any other genre really.
>>61465912
Yo La Tengo, duhh
>>61463403
Ye.
Getting sick of western shoegaze so I've been trawling RYM/BC for other stuff.
Japan and Taiwan have surprisingly good scenes.
>>61466765
my favorite band of all time desu
What's the best dream pop record of 2015?
Also looking for some bright dream pop. Something with pastel texture.
>>61467485
Japanese stuff is pretty well known. Pretty much all that's talked about here is Japanese + Western stuff. I don't know anything about the Taiwanese gaze. Any recs from there? Sounds very interesting.
>>61467511
>pastel texture.
Example please.
>>61467533
We Save Strawberries, Boyz & Girl, TuT, Sloth Scamper, then there's Bad Daughter who are less shoegaze and more Painful-era Yo La Tengo.
TuT and Sloth Scamper are both on Bandcamp, the former two are a lot harder to track down but last I checked they were on Spotify. You might have to use their mandarin names though which you can find on RYM.
Then for China you have Dear Eloise, White Tulips
>>61467550
Should have used a different word.
Human - Diiv
Pretender - Winter
Us Now - Them Are Us Too
Ones I can think of from the top of my head. Human has a really sunny feeling to it that I like.

You've probably heard of most of these but I'll try anyway:
Astrobrite - Crush
The Ecstasy of Saint Theresa - Sussurate
Borax - Ballistic
Pinkshinyultrablast - Happy Songs for Happy Zombies
ALSO this is not shoegaze at all but you would probably enjoy this if you're looking for that comfy lo fi sound.

>>61469245
>Borax

So is Smiling Disease the hero who's going to save shugazi???
>>61469773
Haha I can definitely see that, their styles are pretty similar. I really wish Tweens had produced their actual album like this; the demos are much more exciting than the final product imo

youd obviously have to be really sad and spiteful to make a post like that. its not the kind of thing an emotionally aware person would do, its the actions of a damaged or somehow deficient mind. it might help if you took a look at yourself and examined your motives for doing it. I can understand if you dont want to talk about it here, nobody likes to talk about what a horrible place their head is in this kind of environment. but if its ever going to get better in there introspection is the first step.
