Take Transilvanian Hunger for instance. Good album, but plenty of people hold it up as being a pinnacle of black metal by being posers. That being said, it's not necessarily a bad album and there are people out there who know plenty about black metal and still like TH. Sure, UAFM and ABITNS are up there too but it's a matter of preference.
People who call ABITNS their favorite tend to like Bathory/DM
People who call UAFM their favorite like the fast riffing style associated with BM
People who call TH their favorite tend to like the atmospheric and hypnotic aspects of BM
