i would buy a million dollar mansion and pass it off as 'my reverb hall'.

Free awesome house and i get to record with natural reverb coming from the sound of my whore girl who thinks im filthy rich because of my house, but i really only have a cat, my 4chan reputation and skills in atonal post-modern genre-bondre

I'm buy really nice monitors and build a computer cluster. I don't really need hardware. I have a bunch already and it just gets dusty.

Alternatively, I'd start building instruments based on kinetic sculpture.

you could make a sound installation or something I guess

too bad you still won't have any talent

you could get better reverb from a big poured concrete structure; it doesn't have to be inhabitable

I'd upgrade my amp first.
>Lepai LP-2020A+
Got my paycheck today. What do you guys reccomend?

All my other equipment is pretty cheap/inexpensive, but I'm genuinely content with it.
>Micca MB42X
>Dayton SUB-1200
Besides that I just have a couple mid-range saxophones and a cheap Chinese Fender for fucking around. I guess I'd buy a sitar and learn to play.
>>
>>55069128
woo let's go modular and get some classic drum machines up in here!
>>
>>55069891
>soundproofing foam

Come the fuck on. That foam shit doesn't help at all. Rockwool traps, bro.
>>

$300,000 into a hard-wood/timber house with a large circular living room/playing space.
SSL Desk, Neve preamps.
Lots of good ribbon mic around the room.
A few guitars, a thinline tele at least.
Ludwig drums, change my current hats, china and splash for better ones.
Arabic rugs all around.
Genelec and Amphion speakers too.
>>

>>55071736
seconding this
>>
I'd just buy a Yamaha grand piano, a 10 track mixer, A Korg Electribe 2, Arturia MicroBrute.

Then a Zoom audio recorder and then blow the rest on what will be the worlds largest collection of Korg Volcas. I would go to festivals and set up some Volcas, and let people walk up and play.
>>
>>55071524
Glad to see other people interested in modular.
I don't have one myself, but I've been interested in them for a while. They seem like great fun, and a really organic approach to electronic music.

But, like >>55071671 said, I have a hard time actually finding a lot of interesting music that's made on them. I guess people with modulars tend to get more interested in achieving new sounds than actually composing music.

>I guess people with modulars tend to get more interested in achieving new sounds than actually composing music.
yeah but there's a difference between people making shitty, self-indulgent music and people making music that doesn't have the features and elements that you specifically want to hear; plenty of masterful stuff is completely abstract, but when I hear people complaining about this stuff, it's usually because they want something poppy and accessible

anyway it's more the workflow and fetishization of everything retro and analog that I find boring
>>
>>55071731
circular rooms actually have worse acoustics than rectangular
>>
>>55071574
y-yeah but rockwool traps aren't going to significantly eat into your 300k budget

foam treatments are expensive as hell
>>
>>55071602
the point of room treatment isn't to keep external sounds out
>>
>>55069182
It's a circuit bending breakout box, they can have all kinds of controls on them but it looks like this one has a patchbay. You can plug cables in the contacts to short circuit that drum machine in weird and interesting ways.
>>
Talent
>>
>>55072045
>weird and interesting
but still just shitty and useless
>>
>>55072101
Nah, you can get all sorts of neat distortion effects out of it, and due to the nature of a breakout box the drum machine can work the same as it always did if you need it to. I'm actually working on doing this to a casio sk-5 right now.
>>
>>55071776
>Letting people play a bunch of volcano

Public performance art is so interesting to listen to. I'd love to hear that.
>>
>>55072160
the problem is that it affects all the sounds globally in a way that isn't really controllable, and most of the variations, which you can't navigate in any remotely intuitive fashion, are distorted to the point of being useless

I built shit like that like 15 years ago and it all either hit the trash can or immediately started collecting dust; it's just not a recipe for a useful instrument
>>
>>55069128

Basically a studio.
>>
I'd get:

AKG K1000
Stax SR-009
Grado GS-1000

Woo audio WA-6e (+tubes)
Schiit ragnarok
Schiit gungnir
Schiit mani
Schiit sys

A record cleaner

Some electrostatic speakers

A new electricity group for this and power regulator for a perfect flow

Probably build a room around all of that, that's soundproofed.

A good violin, and violin lessons.

And last but not least i'd buy the albums i currently have pirated.

so now i have 850.000 left if not more.

I'd love to invest in some new saxophones.

When I was at CMEA, I tried these Yamaha's that blew mine out of the water. These special edition (Brass or copper? I don't remember) horns. I tried the tenor (since I usually only play tenor) and I was INSANELY impressed but I think the price was way out of my range. Played beautifully though.

I'd love to own a bari sax ;_;

I would get the most expensive bass-orientated speakers. Line them together between my dick, turn up the speakers to max, play dubstep and watch my dick EXPLODE.

I'd buy a moog sonic six, better recording stuff, and music lessons.

>>55069128
