>posting literally the worst version of the cover
1973's original LP artwork still the best
Jenny Death is a lot more "raw" - sounds kinda like an amalgamation of all of their past works, in the best way.
>The Money Store
Don't get me wrong, it's a great record, but I think that Powers beats it out in pretty much every aspect. What'd you like about TMS that you didn't find on the new one?
"Perfect albums" translates to "albums you really fucking like and for all intents and purposes can't find anything you dislike about them" for all but the most hardcore autists, such as yourself.
What are you even saying? I'd buy it if I considered it perfect, yeah. People are posting albums they consider perfect in this thread but nothing is perfect so pointing that out is dumb. This is a stupid argument, so just post your favourite record or whatever.
Fantastic albums, especially WYWH.
Great albums too but I don't listen to them as much.
Good but far from perfect. Niggas is 7.5/10, JD is 8.5/10 imo.
The argument against my post was that "perfect is just albums you really like" which is a fucking retarded argument. If that's the case then any fucktard who likes some shitty album makes it a perfect album.
well this is productive.
Fuck these threads. It's either
A. People posting the same fucking mucore every time
B. Some hipster posting their new greatest discovery that they want the world to hear so they proclaim it as a perfect album
C. The flavor of the month album
theres a lot of albums that are pretty good or just good. but not perfect
this is my choice pic related
maybe i dont like money
It's perfect to me and that's all that matters.
the middle 3 tunes are shite, so it's like a 2/5, probably even less if you use runtime as a metric.
Post Ummagumma Floyd is bland and boring 4/10 at best.
Not even as good as F#A#
NotM is a 4/10
Jenny Death is a 3/10
So the album is a 7/20.
DJ Shadow is better.
Even fucking Vektroid of all people managed to outdo them.
The club segments are 8/10, would drop all of them at multiple nights right after each others, the ambient bits suck.
I wish it would've been an EP.
It's a good album, but mainly a meme.
Not OP of that skinny fists post but I think F#A# and fists are both perfect in their own ways
F#A# does a better job of creating an apocalyptic/hopeless atmosphere, and skinny fists does a better job of just all-around catharsis
I posted the Lift Yr. Skinny Fists picture. When I was getting into God's-pee I was into F#A# a lot and preferred it to Skinny fists, but a few years later I find Skinny fists much more re-listenable, full of interesting motifs and of greater value artistically. F#A# is amazing record mainly because of the atmosphere but Skinny fists take me on a spiritual journey - and the ending is incredibly cathartic, as you said. It's like F#A# is about the apocalypse in the material world and Skinny Fists about the spiritual dimension of that event, if you know what I mean.
close, but no
>jesus was black because this scripture said his hair was like cotton candy
please, tell me more of your compelling arguments mr. crazy black person with an Arab name, because the ethnicity of jesus is totally relevant to the current racial tension in the USA and calling jesus a cracker is super duper productive
Other than that, it was really good and IMO the best of 2014
not nearly my favorite album but literally flawless
Any ERRA fans in here?
>Also, Struc/tures and Veil of Maya.
I love these but I feel they are missing something
I should listen to Stereolab more. this is fucking great. not sure if a 10 though
this is like an 8/10 imo. feels a but repetitive at times
ege bamyasi is better IMO
Don't really know anyone that loves this album as much as me, but I don't have any problems with any of it.
Lots of haters out there, but for what it is, this is a perfect album.
I don't hate them, but they're definitely not as refined. And not even the same genre. Which is fine, but I wish he had further explored the murky ambient shit he was doing before.
in it's genre, yes
This is the most transgressive album in the mainstream since it came out. Not that Marilyn Manson/Slipknot "grills wont fuk and am sad, herez muh murder fantsies" bullshit, actual shit like human trafficking, protesting, and heroin addiction.
If you don't think a song comparing penetrating a virgin and making her bleed in your teens to penetrating your arm with a heroin needle in your 20s and watching the blood trickle down your arm. You might not get it. Shit's deep as fuck though, even with the fratboy love.
This shit would never get on the radio today.
Loving it so far but I think an album needs more time to simmer before it can be considered perfect
I was not. Despite being an old shitty tripfag, too obscure to be mentioned on any but one tripfag rating chart one summer, in my old age I don't always have as much time for /mu/.
Though drake and josh step-incest shipping on an album cover is very /mu/, as we're all 16 year old girls in 2006 here.
It's a play on words.
He's saying it wasn't about the man, then sighing "Jesus" at the end, which is used in America to imply someone is going too far about something.
This is also a pun though, because you're both speaking about Jesus.
Either way, everyone is fucking wrong. Jesus probably looked like a Palestinian.
Varg Vikernes would be ashamed of both of you for supporting some dumb desert religion if you're a european mound-fucker.
>another scripture said he looks like a smiley bearded motherfucked often posted by edgy /mu/ shitposters
You're missing the point of the Varg-obsession.
It's equal parts "Musical Genius" and Chris-chan level autistic trainwreck. Gotta love the videos where he claims he doesn't hate blacks anymore because (somehow) them speaking Indo-European languages means they get to be Europeans too if they live a traditional lifestyle and only fuck black people. I never thought I'd see Varg make a "I'm not racist guys, I just love muh ancestors" play in a vlog on youtube. You can't write this shit.
Pic related and "The Idler Wheel..." are two albums that I actually just listened to for the first time and I think are 10s.
I don't know, I might hold Mule Variations higher.
Also, pic related.
I haven't really gotten too far into Waits' catalog, so I can't say. I've just listened to Rain Dogs and Blood Money, and I'll probably do Swordfishtrombones next. I've just been listening to a lot of singer-songwriter stuff lately. I listened to The Good Son for the first time yesterday and holy shit, that's a fantastic album.
Any1 ever hear the band Radiohead? It a little underground group, u probably are not "with it" enough 2 have yeard. But they are 10/10 god tier, the ebst band ever, that and QUeen the band.
Happy to help
He's just shitposting. He's not funny doe.
Born To Die is complete shit. I thought Video Games was amazing until the rest of the album came out and I realized it wasn't supposed to be an ironic or depressing song, she's just a fucking awful female role model and lyricist.
Lana Del Rey is not a bad girl, she didn't even shave the side of her head, god.
It's not bait.
Do you think Miles went electric because he was "experimenting"?
Top kek. He did it because jazz wasn't popular anymore.
I'm not saying his late 60s and 70s stuff is bad. It's just nowhere near on the same level as his earlier stuff.
I'm not fucking joking. These motherfuckers hit harmonies that are superhuman and Louvin's god is a vindictive motherfucker who isn't afraid to kill drunk's families to teach the drunk a lesson about Jesus.
One Gospel/Bluegrass/Country album has never been at the same time so brutal and so beautiful, especially one created by someone who once turned down a chance to tour with Elvis in his prime because he'd "Never get on a bus with a nigger lover".
What's the appeal of goreshit?
Is it just shock?
He always struck me as a DJ Sharpnel/M1dy imitator, but with no talent, and ridiculous shock tactics in place of Sharpnel's anime porn covers that were definitely graphic, but not remotely loli.
say what you will this album is a 10/10 for me. madlib's beats are just perfect for freddie gibbs
*crossing fingers it isn't bait*
I'd argue In A Silent Way is far more delicate in it's "every note" perfection than Kind of Blue, I love KoB, but I think to disregard his entire electric era as a move to stay relevant is a really basic viewpoint.
NotM + JD = 17
I mean it's fucking good
stereolab reminds me of cocteau twin idk why
Always listen to pic related to clear my head
blank banshee is my favorite artist of the 10s
I like anamanaguchi, but it's not perfect
That's the one!
But Toxicity is so much better...
These are all really great
This is like one of his worst albums
You have great taste as well I see
livin on the fault line - doobie brothers
the concept for the album was that they were on the fault line of rock and soul music. the songs incorporate those two along with many other flavors. its perf
i support these opinions
teen suicide was my favourite sam ray project
i will be my own hell, waste yrself and hymns are so good. an abundance of strawberries didn't stand out to me. i'm slowly coming to like ricky eat acid.
dunno why I find it perfect. But still, here it is.
I still love this album, but this has become my favorite
Erra is awesome, and [id] is based
first impression of Jenny Death was more favorable than the money store to me... but I also enjoyed ex military more
I'm into vaporwave a little bit and found this one time on here. What a fucking classic. /mu/ actually did something right for once, and they did a damn good job. Maybe it resonates more due to the fact that D&J used to be on when I was in like 8th grade and watching it with lil bros. I know those songs mayne
I've listened to these a lot. Some of my favorites.
Here's my personal 10/10 album.
I love this shit. I used to never understand how a person could do this to their ears, but then I grew ears. They have at least one live, recorded concert that I saw (only one I've seen) and that was eye opening as well. It's impossible to say it enough: can't fake the funk.
Holy shit yes. This album is just so utterly amazing. The guitar solo in Wind of the Night Forests is one of the best solos in all of music.
Good but not quite.
Genuinely surprised this hasn't been posted yet.
First heard it in highschool seven years ago. Have yet to find a flaw, tbh.
Not him, but Parallax II reeked of Colors, and not in a good way. Not that it wouldn't be good independently, which it would have, but they released Colors prior, which is probably the best prog metal effort in recent memory. I will say in advance I don't really care for Devin Townsend's solo efforts; I think they're a bit pretentious. Strapping Young Lad had some good tracks though.
Most people I show MHTRTC either don't get it or simply don't like it, so I don't fault you.
Hard for me to describe. Struck me hard at the right time, I guess. I'm moved heavily by instrumental music that conveys emotion, or at least tangible meaning, and MHTRTC does that for me. I wasn't aware of why I loved it so much at the beginning, but over the years I've tried to rectify that sort of nebulous appreciation in my mind and that's kind of how I rationalize it. While being very expressive, it's very impersonal (don't want to say inhuman, because that's not true). I identify with expressive, yet impersonal stuff on a lot of levels, though I dabble in everything.
I should have also included that you're entitled to your own opinion. This is a perfect album thread, implying massive subjectivity, and I'm not going to argue with you on The Chan
if you are looking at it from a musician's standpoint, sure parallax is more impressive, but theres nothing behind it. BTBAM is getting increasingly more shallow. I think the genre-bending in colors was the start to that.
Colors was too good in that regard. The fusion was pretty seamless, and simply existing it implied the idea of possible continuation. The one after was shit, only had Swim to the Moon (which was quite good tho, honestly) and Parallax II seemed like grasping for a life preserver
swim to the moon and selkies are my two favorite tracks that happen to come off my two least favorite albums
they're definitely not bad by any stretch of the imagination, all of BTBAM's work is phenomenal, but for me its S/T>Colors>Silent Circus>Parallax i&ii>Alaska
it never really hit me like the others. S/t and colors passed by in what seemed like two minutes my first listen. I think it mainly has to do with the fact that i feel like I'm waiting for selkies the whole time
Flood is best Boris
I like Sun Ra's weird shit better than his conventional shit tbh
Honestly I love so many of the albums in this thread but this is the only one that I would say is genuinely perfect with not a note, not a single sound out of place
Probably not going to get much love but this is my choice
my only criticism would be its length but idk if it being any longer would make it better. i used to adore this thing.
it's rugged, flawed and dramatic, but it's still one of the few albums i'd call 10/10
for some reason i cannot stand his voice and it ruins the album for me, same with current 93 :(
perfect lyricism, alright music.
this is on par with TNT, but TNT is still my favourite.
SEE WHAT HAPPENS?
DO YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS?
i agree with>>54460785
I vote for pic related.
5/10, I prefer Bitches Brew
7/10, but haven't listened to in a few years, so no t sure.
I hate this album. The Sound of Musak is infuriatingly pretentious and childish lyrically, and the instrumentation is all just dull.
Very close, I don't think it's quite perfect but it is excellent, especially the violin work and vocal melodies
Tago Mago is perfect, Future Days is not quite as good.
The first three tracks, sure. The rest, no.
I don't think it's quite as good as The Moon and Antarctica, it's fantastic but it has some weak spots in Trucker's Atlas and Long Distance Drunk.
I love this album but not quite for me
Amazing album but I have to agree with >>54465859
lovely but not perfect
I thought that for a time but it kind of wore on me on repeated listens
it's pretty much perfect for what it's going for but it never really wowed me when not on dissociatives, though >>54475436 is slightly better imo
