It's certainly better than Kanye West and Duke Ellington, it's a lot better than noise and it's far from noise.
I take issue with the complexity = better doctrine, but don't get me wrong, Ferneyhough is way better than Kanye, thought I'm certainly not sure that Ferneyhough has written anything better than the masterfully simple music of Erik Satie for instance (I'd still say Ferneyhough was a better composer than Satie as he's more consistent, but a few of Saties works are brilliant and incredibly simple.)
