Bands you like/love but /mu/ hates
The catchy-song factor is always the biggest thing to draw me back into plebhood
Fucking nostalgiacore, man.
Because Pitchfork gave it a mediocre review and most of /mu/ is unable to think for themselves
what a shame that hating this band is a meme because this album is god tier
I blame Anthony Fantano. This was my AOTY 2012.
I remember when Odd Future was still this underground group of artsy rap kids. /mu/ loved them once upon a time, around 2010. Before and leading up to Goblin. Also, who hates Nujabes? There was a sticky for him at the time of his death.
OF definitely don't receive the type of praise and hype that they used to. DG and Kanye are in higher regards than OF for sure.
If it means anything to you, Scaruffi has rated some Korn albums higher than many classic and widely loved albums. Including some by the Beatles, but there's no surprise there.
>inb4 "the fact that so many books..."
Seems to me like a reaction to them getting big internationally. In the UK they've always been fuck huge so nothing really changed there. AM is a great album, not humbug level but still great.
Vladislav Delay. I don't know if his fanbase is just really bad or what, but whenever I bring up VD I always get some shit about how Entain is the only album worth listening to which is total bullshit. I think he's a great producer.
Same applies with Luomo and Vocalcity. I actually prefer The Present Lover anyway.
Yeah I mean they were semi big in the States but now they're fucking huge and sell out arenas. I remember about 3 years ago I saw them open for the black keys (free tickets) and literally no one gave a shit about them, most of the people in the audience were just getting beers or on their phones. Now they headline festivals and sell out arenas in the US
>getting pissed about a music review score
That being said, I really never understood the appeal for Alt-J. An Awesome Wave just sounds so... bland and boring. Most people I know who dickride the group are people convinced that Alt-J actually created their genre.
I love to sitting in front of the house in the summer, being high, drinking a milkshake all while listening to Best Coast.
It's not sophisticated or deep, but it's just perfect for this kind of situation.
People seem to shit on Blind Melon the couple times I've posted it. Or at least saying everything but "No Rain" is garbage.
"Change" and "Sleepyhouse" are two of my favorite songs ever.
That's what I'm saying. There's tons of great songs on that album, I can listen to the whole thing without skipping songs (which is rare)
If Pitchfork had reviewed this album, it definitely would be a 10 because of all the drama with Shannon and a debut album causing so many waves.
But unfortunately there is no Pitchfork review on their website for Blind Melon, hence /mu/ doesn't talk about them.
p. much everything i listen to
black lips, real estate, california x, modest mouse, crystal castles and other bullshit
Well, you're a dick so i'm glad i'll never have to deal with how shitty of a person you are in real life lol. Once I smoke this weed i'll forget you ever fucking existed lmao
Some of his music and fanbase is truly terrible, but I like this album a lot. Sober is a great song too.
Portugal the Man was one of my favorite bands back in college and I still really enjoy pic related
I thought An Awesome Wave was good (not spectacular but good), but This Is All Yours is so fucking boring. Only interesting thing in it is the beggining of Left Hand Free, and it becomes boring-generic after the intro breaks
>implying this isn't an 8/10 album at least
Ppp...please don't hurt me
It's not that they don't get mentioned because they are considered pleb, people here are just too busy listening to crappy modern day emo like Modern Baseball, Brave Little Abacus, Hotelier, etc.
...this is satire, right?
These bands are awful. You might as well listen to some more of your vapid pop bullshit appropriated for indie. Emphasis on the word vapid.
Also ok at best. Heaps better than any of his other work but doesn't escape the corny, almost cringe-y back story.
At least he isn't a self-centered misogynistic crybaby like he was on Camp
Manic Street Preachers. I mean /mu/ doesn't hate them, but there's pratically zero discussion about this GOAT band. They even released a brilliant album last year and no one even mentioned it.
