Seeing Tim Hecker tonight, pretty excited.

I saw him live in a museum about a month ago, was awesome. He had some girl that played with him, but it's really hard to tell exactly who is doing what.
He played three pieces, corresponding to the three parts of the film Fantomas, which was being projected behind him.
where's the radio amor love @
I'm seeing him on Tuesday, so hyped!
Are Virginal I/II and Live Room the spookiest Tim Hecker pieces?
Seeing him Saturday at Le Guess Who?. Also, Swans and Autechre. Can't wait!

What's under the sheet?
>>51455811
Yes, Virgins is definitely his most spooky release. imo his other material sounds more desolate than anything (in a good way)

It's a good album. Not my favourite of his though.
Why was Instrumental Tourist so disappointing?
>That never-ending drone in Where Shadows Make Shadows
His most underrated release, I swear.
>>51456316
It was based on improvisation, so there was no real structure behind it.
It reminded me of Hecker B-sides with Lopatin crudely adding some bloops once in a while. No sense of movement or cohesion.
>mfw he doesn't play Live Room live

I quite liked it. Nowhere near either of their best but it was very interested.
>you will never make that noisy, grinding, glitchy sound on intrusions

What were the political connotations of Virgins anyway?
>>51456404
>What were the political connotations of Virgins anyway?
I'm not sure there were any.
from the TMT review anyway
>Virgins is music that breathes both religious mysticism and transcendence on a secular terrain; the spiritual is the purity of sound, the virginal quality of the grain. This is always created by the opposition of violence and release. Piano lines on “Virginal I” and “Live Room” hammer insistently and insatiably, but not quite metronomically, like machines sliding out of control.
>>51456353

That description is absolutely perfect, I could not have put it better myself. I love how percussive Virgins is, I wish he would make more stuff like it.

Grey Geisha was pretty cool. It was the moment of, after waiting for basically the entire album, the two actually had actually started working together and developed really awesome synergy.
There are other moments on the album that are good, but overall it's a mediocre release when you take into consideration how great Hecker and Lopatin are individually.
