Most of the international students at my uni are Japanese. They're so friggin polite & hardly ever make comments so I don't know what they think about stuff. I'm friends with a couple of them, and I ask them what they think about certain things and they give short brisk answers.

Li Jianhong might be up your alley, OP, if you're into noise at all.

It's mostly densely layered guitar-noise improvisations, with a dash of post-rock and ambient. Although sometimes he just ditches the guitar and goes for a pure analog-noise setup.

Well we have a larger amount of Vietnamese & Thai students, but the majority actually live here (families were put here during 'Nam). Those groups are pretty much Americanized and friendly with everyone.

I haven't met any of the Korean students, but apparently they exist. I think they're frightened by how much Nippon there are.

Japanese is the largest population. They're super friendly, but you can tell that unless you get to know them well you aren't going to get much thought out of them. I'm a culture events organizer for my campus, so I'm getting pretty close to a few of them. Hope at some point they'll let me in on what the big secret plot is.
