i agree drum and bass has no visual asthetic at all.

most of it is just dancefloor crap anyway even stuff exit records puts out would only make sense in a live setting where snapbacks are present, who in there right mind wants to listen to such garbage or be associated with it.

This is what the lo-fi thing has going for it, they will never be on the same level as us unless they quickly change things.

You can easily apply the same thing to people that listen to grime lol that music is just inexcusable crap for degenerate chav's.

It makes gabba look good.

hip hop and downtempo are not really talked about here, since these tunes are not part of the same dance music 'scene'

for example, stuff like this is hip hop, but made by a dnb producer so it's considered part of these threads

made a thread earlier but it hasn't been catching on so i'll ask here

Which is the most effective virtual software you can make music with without a keyboard?

Ableton seems to be out of the question.

Reason is okay.

Cubase is mainly for recording and mixing which can be good.

Logic seems alright since it doesn't have much MIDI functionality.

Need some more input

That word is like nails on a chalkboard. Anyway check out somethinksounds (they were the kings of this sound) and 09/10 era Hotflush. That post-dubstep sound was way more EP than album driven, but like other anon said Sepalcure self-titled is great, as well as Machinedrum's Room(s).
>>
>>48762133

Yea but has never been as ubiquitous as it is now. Her Records came out of nowhere to be one of the most important labels of 2014 and arguably Classical Curves was year 0 of that sound

>>48762328

>when is minimalistic music going to stop being minimal?
>>
>>48762296
grime has always been trendy though, in fact it's sound hinges on being a fresh underground urban sound.
it's always going to be "trendy" so it's a moot point to even call it out as such really.
>>
>>48762328

Never. Techno will always be the "snob" choice for people that are "above trends". The only way is if Blawan style UK techno has another resurgence like it did in late 2012
>>
>>48761937
Sbtrkt's album is shit, future garage isn't a thing

>>48762374
what do you mean by trendy? just because it has a fairly limited following, more 'underground' and you feel cool for listening to it, what a fucking stupid word to describe music
>>
>>48762374

Yeah no, you have no understanding of the current grime scene. The new wave started in 2013, where a bunch of new artists cropped up (Boxed crew). These guys are substantially different than the old grime guys who are now either making chart grabbing hits or basically making uk trap. You could even argue that road rap has replaced grime as the true urban music given that the old grime generation have seen too much success while the new grime cats are all college educated white kids
>>
>>48762368

sorry but there are a select group of fags who post in these generals. you are not cutting edge or have a muh secret club for listening to new grime which a lot sounds like remakes of old releases with more clean production, and people have been doing it for a while now - once people got bored of stale hip hop style instrumentals. it's like we're stuck in 2011 or something in these fucking generals.

Yeah I'm aware.

It's just that it all sounds like techno I've already heard before, I get that they're repetitive DJ Tools but a lot of them just sound like dime-a-dozen reiterations of previous DJ Tools.

>>48762844
https://hardwax.com/71341/astronomical-telegram/ni-5/

For example
>>
>>48762909

The whole point of a DJ Tool is that it's supposed to be minimal and bare as fuck. Like that's exactly the point.

ffs u aren't very bright, are you

"Dj tools" are simple, stripped down songs used in Dj sets to fill in between transitions, or to make a transition between 2 songs smoother, or to simply play along another song in the set

They are meant to be simple and not that interesting. That's why Hardwax labels these as DJ TOOLS

yo i hear this argument a lot. could you give me examples of these tunes that sound like remakes? apart from the obvious remakes 'jt - twin warriors', 'samename - sakura', etc. not calling you out or whatever, i agree with your sentiment too about the guys in this thread, it's just i don't really hear it. i've been listening to grime for years and i'm genuinely excited about all this stuff and think it's pretty refreshing and original.
>>
>>48763161

You sound frustrated
>>
>>48763161
ok fuck this post i'm pretty drunk and mad
>>
i feel good good good
>>
>>48756791
Why is ableton out of the question? It's one of the best options you faggot lol
>>
>>48763161

I don't think anyone is claiming that grime stopped being made or anything like that. The whole point is that it's at it's highest popularity (and some would argue highest creativity) in years. There's a reason every /bleep/ thread devolves into /grime/ these days. That's never happened before in the history of this board, so that should tell you something at the very least
>>
>>48763034
yeah ok, bit harsh to say that it's just remakes, i really like grime, just getting annoyed at people who are like yeah its so fucking trendy man
>>
>>48763294

I mean would you not say it's "trendy"? Boxed has become massive and you have DJs of all kinds of genres inserting grime tunes in their mixes and sets. It's like 2007-era dubstep all over again. Anyway, just use the word "popular" if trendy is so inflammatory for some of you guys. Although "trendy" just means popular amongst a certain demographic
>>
>>48763399
>It's like 2007-era dubstep all over again.
what do you mean by this?

i wouldn't call it popular either, but that might just be where i'm from, i've only seen the odd butterz night or something. what's the most played style of music at fwd these days? you can usually tell what's currently big by who's playing at fwd.
>>
>>48763491
>what's the most played style of music at fwd these days

Grime
>>
Why do guys care what's trendy so much? It's such a hipster thing to do... and yes that includes actively avoiding what you feel to be too trendy.

Stop being hipsters and just enjoy what bangs in the clubs and gets you moving. Have a good time boys and stop posing - no one cares if you think lo-fi house is 4 2013 Use Only. Not even your mums will care.
>>
>>48763760

because this thread is for discussing club music for fuck's sake

Route 94 is utter shit. He was a brostep producer who realized that shit was dying so he jumped on the uk house bandwagon to try to cash out by making generic tanktop house. He'll be making grime next year as soon as Uk house starts losing popularity.

>>
>>48764032
Whatever man - I just dropped by for a chat but I guess you're all too cool and angry for that, which is fair enough.

I feel like its about perspective too, like if the first track on that ep came out under some obscure 50 year old belgian techno monikers monikers moniker, the people in these threads would hail it as the second coming, but due to the jagerbomb connotations Route 94 has, it puts people off

just chill boys
>>
>>48764215
*tips snapback*
>>
>>48764241

The reason most people are turned off is because he's coming at it from a pure money making perspective. It's sad to see shit like that
>>
>>48764301
I do agree with that yeah, although i think My Love is a tune it does seem contrived like that, with how simple it is. do you have anything that shows that that's his angle?
>>
it feels like people are running out of ideas in the uk

after dubstep, we've gone from people trying to bring back garage, people trying to make future garage a thing, weird non danceable stuff like night slugs, electro releases and bait techy sounding house releases from swamp 81, techno mixed with grime, deep house with speed garage basslines and samples

and everything gets shunned under uk bass or '130' and other labels. it's kind of interesting but it seems like a mess at the same time.
>>
>>48764601

Na i think this nu-grime stuff is pretty innovative. Also the night slugs stuff as well. And the PC music stuff (where have you heard anyhing like that before?)
>>
is there an essential bleep infographic?
>>
>>48764774
could you post examples? a lot of mixes i've listened to, the tracks sound cool, but just sounds like some post dubstep stuff with the weird beat patterns with a few grimey synths and recognisable old grime samples.

And if it is, why are there threads on Bleep? What do they do? What makes them different from Amazon? Do they make bootlegs? I really have no idea.

Yeah, there were a load of political bits with the terrorists not mentioned, and after the end (the bit where Kaneda and co ride off into the sunset) there's this whole part where they're stuck between a bunch of different factions like the akira cultists and the police in the city. It would have to be like 6 hours long to get everything, though.
