I love amok, it's a shame it's not discussed as much.
Mike Clark is my favorite fucking drummer
>>48302027
this is a joke right
>>48303356
Why do you think that? It obviously isn't
>>48303419
>hella
>venetian snares
fast and sporadic =////= good
>>48303479
I know, but there's more than speedness in those albums, like good and interesting drumming.
yes I'm serious
Pet Sounds?
Not necessarily insane drumming, but the percussion is brilliantly textured.
>>48303544
I'll allow it
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-8H3gE9dUo
Some of the most enjoyable drumming in a song ever bros
>>48302078
Yeah the drum sound is pretty cool. I heard it was pre set garageband drum tracks or something.
TUW has pretty good drums too. I love how the drums get real heavy on Cropsey.
Some people didnt like the snare on Deathconsciousness but I think it is pretty sharp which is a good thing.
>>48303544
dont call me shirley
>>48302136
Their drummer is a big asset to the band.
No Fela Kuti releases posted?

why isnt he anymore? I always love his heavy hitting. HEALTH like being heavy a bit.
>>48303827
they're noise pop now and rely mostly on minimal programmed drums
>>48303221
Aww yeah
I agree about amok as well. Haven't heard a peep about it all year
>>48303276
I agree. Head Hunters also has some of the best drumming I've ever heard.
Jorge Ben's 70s albums usually have great percussion; especially on pic related and on Ben.
>>48303854
What are you basing this on? The soundtrack stuff they did?
>>48303885
I'll check it out man. Thanks for the rec.
>>48303854
Get Colour still had heavy drums. I wouldnt be so quick to compare their soundtrack material to the next album they'll do.
Im sure there'll be dance elements but just wait and see. Eveen if the drums do get softer and more electronic he still did some great stuff on their previous releases.
>>48303945
I'm not talking about Get Color tho
>>48303889

I'm not complaining anyway, I love both styles they've represented
>>48303959

>>48304303
Didnt his drummer get shit on "Who are you" and the title track was the only good drum track on that album?

I get real into percussion
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwfTfNwnZTY
This revolutionized western music's understanding of percussion and rhythm. It rejected the masturbatory and flamboyant tendencies of rock drummers of the time, inspiring contemporary drummers to gradually do the same. It laid the rhythmic foundations for hip-hop, punk, new-wave, grunge, post-rock, proto-two-step, and anti-chillwave. It's hard to imagine what drumming would be like today if it wasn't for this album.
Prove me wrong. You probably can(t).
>>48304293
I was already familiar with Cheval de Frise, and I think the drumming was better on their first album. The other two were also good, but didn't found the drumming to be that impressive.
Now I'm going to check the other videos, and thanks a lot for posting them!
>>48304803
Cool album. It's not really that revolutionary though.
Also, I think Frank Zappa was involved with this. The story behind the album and the release of TMR one year after The Shaggs, using similar elements, and produced by Zalla himself probably isn't a coincidence.
>>48304803
You're acting like rock didn't get continuously more flamboyant after 1967. Also, I have serious doubts about this album's legacy, only Zappa cites them as an influence. It's a fun, interesting album, but it's really just 3 girls being forced by their dad to do something they have no idea how to do.
>my level
>get on it
>>48304966
TMR was recorded first. I highly doubt Zappa had even heard of the Shaggs until the early 70s
>>48302027
consider Out to Lunch! by Dolphy. It always impressed me
>>48305316
now THIS is a hip-hop album.
>>48306066
That's because Tony Williams is one of the best drummers of all time. His work on Point of Departure is even better.
>>48302027
>Szobel
my nigga
posting this because the drummer is the only reason to listen to this CD really
>>48308138
Don't Haunt this place is sweeeet, great drumming
