I may be alone here, but I think The Who were actually better when they were a youthful, swinging, thrashing mod band of the 60s, rather than a bloated, corny arena/dad-rock band of the 70s.

Call me crazy, but I find quirky stuff like "Magic Bus" and "I Can See for Miles" to be more viscerally exciting than farty movie trailer AOR stuff like Baba o'riley and Won't Get Fooled Again.

The Who were perhaps the coolest band ever - until after 1970.

Then, for some reason, they abandoned the clever melodies and provocative/interesting lyrics in favour of... proto-Springsteen arena rock.
