Okay, so I bought this a week ago with money to blow. I want some solid advice on what engine/transmission I should consider for a swap without going outside of brand loyalties.

I'm already ordering the eurospec bumpers and getting the paint touched up.

I'm highly considering a 2.5 30e with the getrag but I want to know if anyone else has experience with said vehicles and maybe better ideas.

How did you even find that? I didn't know any had been imported.
>>
HOLY FUCK.

I didn't even know these were available in the states.
OP, you're not a faggot this time.

It's a rallye they sold for roughly 3 tears but faggots bought bmw instead... I've literally got everything original in fantastic condition for 4000..

Problem is, anything breaks and it's a special order item. Here's some shots of interior. Picked it up in north carolina and it drove to texas like a dream, 58k original miles now.
>>
Please some of you euros give some advice on what particular year model of the 6 cylinder went well though, i know the engine fits its only a matter of which specific model I should get.
>>
>>24717
Sadly I don't know much about Opels/GM but I guess since it's a GM car you can choose between a wide variety of engines.

Maybe ask some Shitpostralians since they know a lot about cuntifying GM cars
>>

>>24647
Yeah same here, I mean I figured someone may eventually just bring one over but didn't think they were any officially over here with big ass US spec bumpers to boot.

I thought the only Opel we got was the GT.
>>
>>24717
Why not swap it with the engine they had in the Opel GT?
>>
>>24609
>>24717
afaik, no one ever swapped in anything more than 4cyl because 4 is enough, 6cyl would just make it more front heavy and you'd lose that sweet balance those old mantas have. i would recommend a red top 2.0 or even just C20NE, upgrade the exhaust system and that's it.
i'm very jealous you got it in pristine condition for only $4k, you can only get a molested one with a swapped engine here for that price.
>>
>>24751
Same engine. It's a 1.9 4 cylinder carb I immediately replaced with 32/36 weber and electronic ignition. Runs great but lacks any sort of acceleration and it's quite the problem in houston.

Typically I've driven it on weekends but if I had a good 6 I could easily turn it into a decent daily which is what I want currently because I'm driving a 76 liftback celica but it needs a fresh rebore, resleeve, or 22r block swap as it's reaching the end of its life cycle.
>>
>>24804
Perhaps. I'm really just searching for something with more accel because people in Houston drive like pricks and not being able to get up to 75 quick enough makes distance driving here a nervous situation.
>>
>>24829
I dunno, >>24804 is right. That would mess up the balance. You just need to get more power out of the 4-pot options you got and it will be nice and peppy. I DDed a MGB in Houston for a while, so you won't be bullied like an anemic Geo or anything.

BTW you should join the /hou/ group.
>>
>>24897
aren't you afraid of some prick dinging your manta or even worse? personally i wouldn't dd it, it's a museum piece because how rare they are today. on the other hand, you can always supercharge it.
>>
>>24943
To a degree but I bought it because I enoy the looks, so I'm going to drive it, same with my celica, etc.
>>
>>24943
Also I'm going to crate the original for the sake of resale value.
>>
>>24969
whatever you do, i hope you'll take good care of it and have lots of fun together.
>>24984
very smart, you're probably the only person i like on /o/ right now.

Here's current photo, just set valve lash and did gasket swaps/fluids.
>>
it's 2am currently in Germany, try asking again in ~14 hours when people are active in Europe here
>>
>>24663
OP has Mk1, y u post Mk2 faggot?
>>
>>24609

here's how it's done OP

ditch the Mk1 engine and opt for one from a mk2, but ONLY the 2.0, it's the only non interference engine in the range, the rest with grenade as soon as a timing belt snaps.
take the head off, get it rebored to 2.2.
toss out the pistons and get a set of 4 Ford lean Burn pistons from the 94 Escort, shove those in.
fuel injection systen from the Vauxhall Carlton 2.3 (can't recall the Opel version name)
fuel management loom etc from 230,250 or 280 hp Mk2 Manta
Adjustable shocks from the Mk2 vauxhall cavalier CDi
wheels from the Mk2 cavalier SRi

slap it all together and it'll go like shit off a shovel.

then upgrade the gearbox, coz it'll need doing too, i opted for a Borg Warner 3 speed quick shift(yeah its an auto box, but i was taxi-ing this car and fuck changing gear every 30 seconds for 12 to 18 hours per shift)

good luck.

oh and bear in mind the mk2 is fwd so the engine needs turned and new mounts, which are available on ebayUK
>>
>>24804
theres no room in the bay for a 6, either inline or v format, its tight as fuck
>>
>>25778
because I'm about the brand not the particular generation, faggo
>>
>>25778

A Monza is not a Manta, the fuck are you talking about?
