I don't really feel like gasoline would be the best pick, diesel engines have a lot of benefits that would suit better for something as heavy as a mech
diesel electric would probably be best so that you could use motors or gyros instead of having to rely on complex power delivery like some sort of steam powered dwarf-built robot
