There's an episode that has a short segment showing Equestria in a state of total war with an enemy, and Earth ponies are providing the glorious war machine to make it possible.

It's similar in some ways to the medieval understanding of the three orders of society.
Those Who Fight (warrior nobles), Those Who Pray (the Church, priests, monks, nuns), and Those Who Work (farmers, laborers and skilled craftsmen).
The only difference is that Equestria doesn't have an explicitly religious order. However the Pegasi creating the weather due to their ability to be close to the heavens seems to be a pretty close analogy.

Equestria seems to be awfully close to the medieval ideal.
The reason more people don't recognize this is that history education in the US blows off the whole middle ages as "dark ages" not worth study.
The rulers are good and just and "fear God" (while MLP isn't explicitly religious the rulers do seem to subordinate themselves to a sort of Natural Law. They aren't totalitarian and they know the difference between good and evil.)
All the social orders are respected by the others. Ponies at the bottom of the hierarchy have different roles than those at the top, but their roles are still important to the whole society.

While Equestria is rather utopian, and all ideologies would try to claim it, there is certainly something right-wing and traditional about the show.

This flows naturally from several things:

1. A metric ton of influence from western canon, mostly from classical mythology and modern high fantasy, and the attitude to go with it.

Example: The name Canterlot name comes from King Arthur's Camelot, and took its "city carved into a mountain" look from Minus Tirith out of Lord of the Rings.

Compare this to most entertainment today that has a setting which is either completely absurdist or gritty materialist. It chases only grotesque novelty. There is no sense of respect for what came before. MLP, despite being a flash cartoon made to sell toys, puts in effort to be worthy of what it does, worthy of the audience attention.

2. The explicit Aesop morality. The first, second, and occasionally, fourth season even have the characters state the lesson they learned at the end. Even when not stated, every episode has a rather obvious moral. Furthermore, these morals are true Western Civ styled judgments of good and bad behavior rather than spineless "whatever you want" tripe.

Most entertainment today make no such judgments because they might be used to criticize another way of life. In fact, the immoral often come out ahead.

3. The ultimate values of the show are harmony and order. Even friendship is only a necessary ingredient to achieve these things. Friendship is not the end, but the means to creating a harmonious life and society. This captures the soul of what I think fascists most desire, a society where everything makes sense and everyone belongs to a place where they can learn to be content.

Other entertainment today is not so ordered. It portrays people who have given up on any sort of purpose and are mostly living for today with no real understanding of the past or future.

As long as these traits of the show remain intact, it will remain in my approval.

This, and oddly enough, I think this is why the show has resonated with Males so strongly, even if it was aimed at Females.

There is little media material out their for boys and young men that teaches traditional morality. Things like the importance of the community. Supporting your comrades. Loyalty to family, mentors, and your nation.

Finally, I also think it resonates because its shows a femininity that is not degenerate. The females in Equestria are not materialist whores. They are intensely moral and loyal. Something that is lacking in modern interpretations of femininity.
