I'm feeling around 20 mil for opening weekend. Kids will be done with the Ninjago movie then, so it'll be the only new kids film in theaters.
It opens on the same day as Blade Runner...which could actually work in its favor. For one thing, Blade Runner looks like eh. Likely, parents would buy tickets for MLP for their kids, and Blade Runner for themselves.
The movie just needs to do two things: 1) get lots of advertisement and press attention at least a week before it comes out, and 2) it needs to be good, so it can get positive word of mouth.

I'm getting a similar vibe too, but more of a MLP season 1 attention vibe. When it first came out, people flocked to it simply because nobody knew what it was and had no idea what they're info. The movie fanatics seem to be tilting in a similar fashion when it comes to this, wondering why all these big name actors/actresses and Sia are all in on this film.

This is a major motion picture. The only other two that have come out are Winnie the Pooh in 2011 and the second Spongebob movie, and even that blended in live action and CGI through most of it.
