They're not. Fluttershy is incredibly one note; she has little to no depth, she has no goals in life, she doesn't even have a JOB. This is what has lead to her episodes always being literally learning the same lesson over and over again.
Same with AJ; she's very clearly designed for a 1 to 2 season long show, not a long ongoing show, there's just no depth to her.

Like, rarity, she's got a goal in life, she's got an incredible personality, and she's got some layered relationships with spike too and a couple multi-faceted goals (wanting to both advance her business and find her fairytale prince in life).
but then you go and look at some of the others, like Fluttershy and... fuck man.

This is a surprisingly good selection of replacements.

I like the current mane 6, but I wouldn't be averse to a spinoff featuring these 6's adventures. Hell, that might be better for everyone: glimmerhaters never have to see her again, glimmerfags get to see her almost every episode, and the rest of us get two shows to enjoy instead of just one.

lets look at all the good Episodes this season; We got All bottled up, to change a changeling, rock solid friendship, a royal problem and The perfect pear; All the others have been pretty objectively shit.

Oh hey! all of those are exploring characters besides the six as central characters (Perfect pair used the apples to frame the episode, but the actual episode was about their parents) with alot of them being glimmer ones! Oh no, its not that the mane six are played out and bad though; Dash being a cunt with her parents, or Fluttershy doing the exact same damned lesson AGAIN with her making an animal sanctuary were GREAT episodes, surely.
The mane six episodes are just getting shittier and shittier, while Glimmer, Thorax and trixie have been incredible this season.

Maybe because people are starting to realize that the mane 6 are written pretty poorly over the last two seasons. If you get rid of the mane 6 from season 6 + 7, all of the episodes are actually pretty good.

I record the scores I give to each episode and average them together, and if you remove all of the episodes that the mane 6 have the lead and a few where they specifically ruin an otherwise good episode, the average score for season 6 rises by over a point (a 0-8 scale) and season 7 rises by nearly one point. Without the mane 6, seasons 6 and 7 scored higher than any other season in the series and only had two duds.

1.Triggered faggots who point out that their waifu has been treated badly or more flanderized than usual

2.This one is more realistic:Writers know more about the non mane 6 characters because they have created them and have more stories in mind to apply to them than the mane 6 while keeping the spirit of the show.

Ironically,they have carried Fluttershy, Spike and CMC episodes much better during these last two seasons(save Cart Before The Ponies obviously).

Hell,I even think that To Change a Changeling has a better moral in terms of moving on and having meta elements than Fame and Misfortune.

They are trying to imagine how Gen 5 would turn out and the test for it are the non mane 6 episodes.

Less boring six, more glimmer's mane 6.
