I'd been avoiding season 7 because I'd seen so many people on here complaining about it and I didn't like season 6, but I came across S7 on netflix and decided to watch it a bit because I was between shows. And it's been great, these have been some of my favorite episodes of MLP in ages.

There are. At the end of the day it's still a children's show and many of our fanfics are anything but child-oriented.

I still watch the show, but I have no problem admitting older CMC episodes made me nearly fall asleep in my chair, or that some of the more over-the-top moments don't make me pause the episode in second-hand embarrassment. Yet despite my love for fantasy, I've always been interested when realism makes its way into the ponyverse, such as happy-go-lucky Pinkie dealing with crippling debt.

I guess you could say things that hit closer to home tend to be more appreciated and your tastes just change as you get older. /mlp/ wouldn't be what it is if we all just enjoyed the show for what it is on the surface.

I was in a similar situation but I've recently forced myself to sit down and take the cringe.

There's a lot of filler and sappy morals to wade through but there are gems hidden that are worth exploring. I've only recently started watching the show after my autism subsided and I was able to let go of it no longer meeting my initial expectations. I feel you OP. I watch the show as an obligation as part of the fandom, but I genuinely believe that the current staff should probably just kill themselves rather than torment the series with further episodes of this frankly grotesque monster they've concocted.

We could have eventually in 1.5-2 years gotten animators to collaborate and make good 10 minute short episodes which would kick Vogel's ass anytime.

But because we're a bunch of communist autistics who enjoy slurping Hasbro's cock(Sethisto) and using the media(Equestria Daily) for garbage purposes(Trixie coming back) we've become the most docile fandom in history. Star Trek, Star Wars and Sonic's fandom have more bite and rebellion than us at this point.

Sadly we used to be the most active fandom through seasons 1-2, just not the brighest, most organized, social. Our lack of teamwork killed us. And communist idiots like Sethisto, Orange, etc. helped killed any attempt at teamwork.
