I prefer a little less bitter and a little more sweet.

He'd be physically older, but not ancient and decrepit.

Memory problems, but not so severe that he doesn't remember Celestia and Luna's names. Maybe he actually has decent recall of his 'mortal' lifetime, or the highlights of it, it's everything that has happened after his first century or so that is foggy. Or the reverse, where everything is vague (with a few exceptions), except for the last decade or several.

He'd still be brilliant and magically powerful, but also absentminded and forgets that he can do things, especially if he hasn't done them in a while. But if he focuses on a subject for a while, he can still come up with something new and impressive.

He might have figured out what he thought was a 'law' of magic when he was younger, but now he's retracing that research for some reason, but has forgotten doing it the last time. Because he no longer remembers that it 'can't be done', he can actually figure out a way to do it this time.

Might have a bit of a short attention span, unless he's on one of his autistic laserfocus streaks.

Never watched the anime, its from a time when sticking to source material was more of a suggestion than a requirement, it also came at a time when the anime audio is fucking horrible, I honestly doubt you missed anything special, seeing as the manga had some painful chapters to read, which you can go though a lot faster reading then watching, but if you ever get the chance, I would suggest at least downloading it, and giving it a look, just remember the audio is on the bad side of just about clipping the mics at almost all times and the anime I don't think ever made it to the really interesting plots.

What would a normal sized herd with foals and working mares do in the event of the stallion's death? Even with the protection afforded to the fairer sex, not everything bad can be prevented.
