Honestly I would be OK with G5 taking some hints from other modern cartoons. Yeah there's a lot of shit (PPG, TTG, etc) but there's also a lot of good shit (On DisXD: GF obviously but more recently SVtFoE, and on CN: WBB, OK K.O., Adventure Time, and yes Steven Universe, love it or hate it, has significantly better storytelling, overarching plotlines. and character development than FiM.

Oh, and one MAJOR thing: Loose the outdated workflow of separate writers and storyboarders. Most of the best animated shows on TV today have largely combined the writing and storyboarding. This leads to MUCH more natural dialog as well as vastly improved chracter interaction between other characters and just as importantly interactions with the environment they're in (which is often lost when the writer is separate from the boarder).

That's why I said "love it or hate it"... despite the skewed perceptions of those shows (largely due to fandom bullshit), they have significantly better character development and plotlines. I know that's subjective... but it's really not at this point. AT, SU, WBB, and OKKO have all already had at least one, and in the case of SU and AT, multiple The Perfect Pear-tier episodes in terms of plot, writing, and emotional impact.

Also, I understand hating SU since it's the popular thing to do. But what's wrong with OK K.O.? The show proper has only been around a little over a month. Have you actually watched like 4 or 5 episodes to give it a chance? It's a lot better than the shorts that came out last year would lead you to beleive.
Some episodes are dumb yes, and the show has only just started getting going but still I'm more interested in each of those characters already than I am in any one from FiM right now. Each person has strengths, flaws, quirks, and (most importantly) has so far been written almost 100% consistently. No OOC moments that I can think of.

While you can make an argument for twilight being better than current pony twilight, and sunset being a good addition, the other 5 are really shafted in EQG. Maybe you did when you first got on the ride, and maybe you'll do it from time to time, but I'll bet my bottom dollar that you'll go to places like derpibooru, fimfiction, /mlp/, youtube, ect first because they're more likley to give you what you're looking for than google is and you've learned how to use them since then.

I'm not saying that's the reason all the traffic disappeared, but saying that's not part of it would be quite silly.

The thing about EqG Applejack is that she doesn't have any of the major flaws that the current Applejack in the show does.
Everything that AJ does in the show is either related to her family, her farm, being an incompetent retard, or tradition
Writing Applejack without having time to introduce these things made her have to use her personality to resolve issues like Twilight not being able to shoot in the Friendship Games.
