I'm not that Anon but I was there at the dinner.

It was the first 20ish minutes of the movie, going through the introduction, the ponies preparing Canterlot for the Festival of Friendship, Tempest and the Storm King's armies arriving and defeating everyone, and Twilight / friends escaping down the waterfall. It ended with them deciding to leave Equestria for the Badlands which seems like a logical place to stop (the end of the first act) as the plot has now finally got set. Oh, but not before a scene with Tempest telling Storm King to give her three days to capture the last princess.

Meh. It was like watching an extended first act to an episode. The animation was certainly steller I can't fault it for that though, in that regard it has my praise. The airships DO look a llot better than they did in the trailers too, they must have gone back and fixed up the rendering.

Pinkie is still insufferable however and the Mane 6 sans twilight all still feel like many heads of a hydra attached to their Alicorn overlord merely nodding and commenting on things she's doing.

The princesses job fucking hard though, no suprise there but it pisses me off they can't do anything more with them.
