It never was shut down, it has been released as a beta test both open and closed I believe over last years memorial weekend? Anyhow, it has been still under development and yes, it is slow going because it is a volunteer project. Well that was fun for all of ten minutes before the American servers went down. Again.

Gotta say, not entirely sold on the new control scheme, after god-knows how many years of growing accustomed to the old style.

Being able to trot in all eight directions after having been saddled with two completely nonfunctional strafe keys for so long is wonderful, and the new "Combat Mode" is a massive leap over the horrendous point-and-click targeting which plagued past versions...

Yet needing to switch to a presumably camera-locked "UI Mode" every time you'd want to chat-up NPCs is a clunky affair, and it feels damned restrictive to not be able to swivel your camera angle around on-the-fly (at least from what little I was able to test at the time).

Definitely an unexpected direction to be forced into playing as a filly or colt from your characters' outset as well. Sort-of hoping a Mabinogi-esque aging system was put in place unbeknownst to anyone, allowing for natural growth of your pone over time (or directly via those useless Talent Levels). Incredibly unlikely given this project's sporadic-as-hell development history, but still.

Also, they finally added the ability to boop other pones on the go, a feature promised since the earliest of alphas. That F I V E Y E A R development time was totally worth it, boys.

Damnit, this constant disconnect is really annoying me. They better have this shit fixed within the week.

Yeah it's been more dead recently due to the community which actually has been playing it since 2014 getting bored of the game due to its lack of content which will happen to the real game shortly after people realize this due to months of continuous play (I'm the silly lemon horse who made that specific current private server for the record so I have had my fair share of experience with all of this).

The one downside with playing on their servers is that obviously they have retarded restrictions on everything you say through automated chat filters and the mod's silly opinions of what is "right" or "wrong". It's pretty ridiculous really, for example just recently I was in their official Discord server to see what kind of a mess was going on there before having every message I sent deleted and being perma IP banned for talking about their game's problems apparently (though was never given a reason so they likely did it just because my name triggers them). The day before they even deleted their Discord's own voice chat because people were using it for "evil" or whatever which is quite amusing. If ya can't filter or moderate it, just remove it entirely!

They are just the most pathetic team of individuals ever collected, though it's really just likely due to the people in charge making all these terrible decisions with what they want the game to be and how crazily they must censor their own community to accomplish that. They want it to be a kids game with a community majorly consisting of adults and it's just going to kill the game as it has been over the past years on top of all the other reasons to lose interest (like just an unplayable game with garbage servers to begin with).

This game has been in development for over half a decade. It has been publicized and shown off at conventions all over the United States, including conventions where Hasbro staff were present. Compare that to Fighting is Magic, which was C&D'd long before it was expected to be released. Hasbro knows, and they don't care.
