The show is shit because it's a nepotistic minefield combined with the obligation to force in the latest results of marketing research.

Vogel is exactly what's wrong with the show. He's just a guy who knows his favorite pop culture bullshit with no writing experience. He only got into writing for the show because he wanted to be a part of the brony trend and was able to do so because of his position at Hasbro. You've also got other bullshit like Jim Miller being able to snap his fingers and get Larson's episode edited to incorporate his latest twitter tirade.

In a perfect world we would simply have the creator at the top with educated professionals writing the individual episodes. They would work closely with the marketing teams to make the money alongside the effective stories. There's no reason that the marketing team couldn't work to make a restored castle of the two sisters as a toy just like there was no reason Cadence couldn't be a unicorn and still be a princess in a royal wedding.

On the other side of the coin, when we do get bullshit like Cadence, the writers don't even make an attempt to justify their existence. Why is that the G.M. Berrow book is the only thing that has some kind of interesting characterization with her? Then you have Flurry Heart which I can only assume went over so poorly in the writer's room that they decided to just ignore her as much as possible instead of making the mystery of her being an alicorn into something interesting.

It's an absolutely dysfunctional relationship between everyone working on the show. No one gives up any slack and it ends up being a mess. Castle Sweet Castle wasn't even a response to fans being sad about the ugly crystal castle. It was written before the season 4 finale even aired. It was the writers saying fuck you to the marketing team for ruining their story arc with the castle of the two sisters.

If Twilight was an engaging, interesting, had any good qualities as a character, then the show wouldn't be nearly as dumb.

Vogel is a complete fucking hack of a writer with no imagination who only finds himself above other writers because they're freelance with absolute no stake in whether or not the show succeeds or fails while he is working on it because he wants to. Look at Nick Confalone. He wrote Party Pooped, an episode with another unbearably shitty representation of another species. Now he's my favorite writer because he actually has a stake in the show, understands it, and actually thinks of good original ideas. Vogel might have good intentions, but he simply is not cut out to be a writer when he is incapable of understanding the show or how to do anything using the established rules of its universe. Vogel is only in it to make things stand out, regardless of if it's good or not.

What I hate about Vogel is that he parodies the work of others on purpose. He takes every original written script and simply ruins it for the sake of it to show he's the boss. Adding logical loops/simplifying and confusing the plot to stretch it out to 22 minutes(the characters are so dumb they can't overcome their nuproblems and we get stuck with them for every episode). Making all the characters retarded assholes with the IQ lesser than a chimpanzee.

What he does isn't on accident, he's doing it on purpose to be a dick to everyone and get off from the butthurt of others, like most of his retarded /b/ fanboys.
What I especially hate about him is that he doesn't know when to quit.(7 years). If there's nobody to beat the fucking shit out of him then he'll just keep doing it like a bully, enjoying it.
And saddest part is that every single episode is written or decided by him. On the rare occasion that a scene or a good character gets away from him like Family Appreciation Day(Granny Smith's story) and Applejack's mother, but it still ends up being mediocre because of the writing decisions to short the story or the end goal.
