1. Season 2
It seems this season was the one that got the most emotional responses from me. It had some things from S1 perfected and some plotlines developed in a great way. Unfortunately many of the things S2 did right would later be ruined. Of course, there were also weak episodes, but nothing too bad.

2. Season 4
Even though I think Twilight's Kingdom is HIGHLY overrated, it's still nice that we got some semblance of an over-arching story this season. It featured some of the comfiest episodes in MLP and several characters finally got their definitive character-building eps. It is though also home to some of the worst episodes in the series, like Rainbow Falls or Trade Ya.

3. Season 5
Happened when McCarthy left and Jim took over and felt like a beginning of something new. Starlight worked great as an ideological foe to Twilight. Alas, her potential got wasted. Still, the season is notable for having a lot of particularly good and memorable standalone episodes expanding on the world and the cast. Not a single terrible episode.

4. Season 1
Gets overrated here. I'm surprised this thread hasn't got a single "S1 > anything else" post yet. It's not exactly bad, alot of the episodes are comfy and kinda pleasant to watch, but often that's all they are. They're just kind of okay. Not to say that there haven't been some great stuff like Sonic Rainboom. Not a single terrible episode.

5. Season 6
Gets overhated here. Yes, The Crystalling is the worst two-parter in MLP and episodes like 28 Pranks Later are shit. But there's also some memorable character-and-world-building stuff like in S5. I feel like the season's main plague is its inconsistency, since pretty much all old writers left and it was hard to navigate newfag writers. Still, the season finale was actually way more satisfying than S4 and S5.

6. Season 3
Just an unfortunate combination of eps that weren't particularly good or memorable, with only a few stand-out gems like Sleepless in Ponyville.

Only because S6 had more episodes. S3 only has 2 episodes that I could say I like. The others, I feel like I have to sit through. I can say I liked about half of S6. So while that means there are more stinkers in S6 in total, the ratio of good-to-bad episodes is way better. It's about 15% compared to 50%, for me at least.

No, McCarthy still working as story editor in the second half of S5. Jayson Thiessen left the show as supervising director after the first half.

S4 is the worst season ever because the finale had reference of 9/11.
