Am I the only one who thinks the main 6 are being implied to be the descendants of the ponies in the myths and legends this season?
I'm not just talking about Campfire Tales either.
The pegasus from Daring Done seems like she's suppose to be Flutter's ancestor. Flutter's wasn't even in the episode. I think that was deliberate misdirection.
There's still Pinky's and Twilights ancestors to go, each with their own episode coming up. What are the odds this won't be what the finale this season is based on?

Twilight's is obviously Starswirl.
Mage Meadowbrook is an Earth Pony, so it could be Pinkie's. She's going to appear in Heath of Information, which is a Fluttershy episode.
The whole lot of them are going to be brought up during the finale.

You might have a point, OP, as I can't really think of another reason they'd introduce all these comic characters into the show aside from lack of ideas. The only other season to have a theme like this was S4's rainbow power.

Technically they are show characters in comic. Hasbro designed them and their story and told IDW to write supplementary stories.
