A ton of people really don't get this, Jim as Supervising Director is mostly in charge of and working on the animation and storyboarding side of things, he's never done a script. He's produced a few story concepts but that's it. The Story Editor or now Editors are the ones in charge of the script side of things.

It was so awful that not even Jim could ignore the critics and even if he made a ton of promises about Spike, none of his promised delivered anything of worth.

This is why Miller has the bad reputation he carries now. Fortunately he finally wised up and has been doing his best to avoid creating hype or promise anything, but unfortunately the damage is already done and it's permanent.
