I honestly hope they don't, or if they do it's just a one off thing. I legitimatley prefer 2d animation over 3d and I'm deeply saddened that a lot of different studios have abandoned 2d.

3d animation can be nice and all, but I find it generally lacks the soul and the character that a well stylized 2d animation can bring to the table. It doesn't help that a lot of 3d animation ends up being just turbo-moe-blobs...

Don't forget the costs of outsourcing render farms if they want it to look like shit. I've done some 3d animation with Maya before and rendering that shit is slow as fuck even with a good processor and almost no effects.
