They shifted Chrysalis' attentions from Twilight and her friends to Starlight Glimmer in the season 6 finale, and it was Starlight and her friends (Trixie, Thorax) that ultimately defeated Chrysalis and brought about the new era of the changelings.

More likely, the animators didnt have the time to create a whole bunch of old changeling designs since they were making new ones for griffons, regular ponies and the like. Old Changeling designs would be on the backburner.

I am unreasonably excited that Trixie is getting called by the map.
I'm so happy to see the changeling hive have plants growing inside it because it adds a consequence to the magic blocking macguffin from the S6 finale. It's possible that the changelings were always able to eat normal pony food, but couldn't because the thing that was protecting them from a pony invasion was killing the land.
What are the chances that Thorax's brother will move to ponyville and join Glimmer's group of outcast friends? Or do you think he will join Thorax as the co-leader of the changeling kingdom?

Kora Kosicka is pretty bad at designs. Rob Renzetti was the best designer that the show had. Kora also designed both pre and post reformed look of Starlight Glimmer and i have to admit that she has very little creative ideas. I think Tree Hugger and Gabby might have been her best characters.

Changelings were supposed to be all the same, because they were just drones obeying orders, all of them raised in a hive and forced to assimilate. Like if it wasn't enough for Thorax to completely go against it, he still at least only had a slightly different shade of color before friendship started turning him gay. Look I don't hate Starlight but her personality is clearly flawed. Yes she's very adept at magic like Twilight, but this is not really part of her personality, it's just something she pulls out from time to time. She had a friend who abandoned her which turned her into a cult leader (she still has a tendency to find a crude magical solution to simple problems, I'll admit that too. She has a lesbian girlfriend, and I guess she likes kites. That's basically it, and not all of these things are well expressed in her behaviour. If you ask me, the only thing Starlight typically does, is act as the mediator in conflicts, since she was once converted herself. Something that I think Starlight really needs is a place to live instead of the castle, that would bring some color to her character. Because as it is, she still feels "dropped into" the show.

the worrying factor is mostly gone because they have delivered a bunch of good episodes that have made this season partially enjoyable

the overdramatic thoughts are that contrary to pic related,this is indeed a redemption episode and writers usually rush them making the context really awkward, lacking in empathy as a result

I think it has the potential to be a great episode. If the episode is something like what >>30819102 said, I think it'd be fantastic. There are many other scenarios that could work too. But I'm kinda worried because I think they're gonna make a simple episode to sell that the stupid and rushed transformation in the S6 finale was really the only solution, and that would suck. I don't think that will be the lesson of the episode if he changes. More like the lesson will be, "If your behavior is destructive to yourself or others you need to change the way you behave." Like kicking a coke habit because it makes you paranoid and violent enough to start shooting everything that moves with a shotgun.

In the process of taking love, changelings spread fear and animosity towards them from the beings they feed on. By sharing it they no longer need to feed and the can form more amiable relations with non-changelings.

Imagne if the episode could have been about just Spike, Thorax and Trixie, with the little guy as an ambassador and Trixie as an annoying tagalong companion who makes the trip to the Changeling hive a fucking nigtmare .

The episode ends with the Changelings getting a change of heart, but instead of transforming they simply realize that their lives are shit because they are assholes, so they decide to be less assholish and give a try to this "friendship" thing.
Seeing this, Trixie herself receives an epiphany and does her best to be less annoying and selfish as well, the trip back home repeats all of the same annoying things Trixie did, but this time she catches herself being a cunt and makes the effort of stop her annoying behavior and be more considered to Spike and Thorax.

Instead we will have another Poochie Solves Everything episode. Thank you, Haber!

Like I said, I'm mostly neutral, but I think the best thing the show can do for Glimmer is give her a prominent position within the show, but outside the scope of the mane 6, like Canterlot Royal mage or some shit (idk, just made that up on the spot), and even better, foster the relationship between her and Sunburst.

So in terms of importance, they'd be like the Princesses are from our perspective. We know they exist, we know what they do, but they're not always visible and detracting from the mane characters.

Something along those lines. I mean, we know that Glimmer excels in magic, so it's only fitting to give her a position befitting of that skill. That would instead allow for better character development, rather than being a hamfist into the other character's developments.
