That would honestly piss me off because while it was never explicitly stated that they were dead, every single character spoke and acted as if they were. The entire narrative of the episode had an implicit tone that the parents were dead.

Having them come back suddenly would retroactively rob this episode of a lot of what made it work as it would make the interactions between the Apple siblings and the characters who knew their parents seem stupid and it would ruin the overall tone of the entire episode (and not just this episode but also some moments in earlier episodes too).
