I could go on. Point is, Sunset almost destroyed the world mind controlling those everyone least expected, and now she's kiddie pool to 13's ocean. Chrysalis has THE BEST mind-blocking ability currently in the series, she literally honed it from dozens of other mind rapists trying to rape her mind, and somehow 13 found a way to OP her own OP mind powers enough to break through it, this isn't a minor moment, this is a huge development for her abilities.

AOE means Area of Effect.

She can mindblast a small clearing hard enough to put a Queen into Freeze Mode for a whole day, apparently. Question is what her limits are. How long can she control a single individual? How many can she control simultaneously? Having someone lile 13 on the loose is scary, because now our heroes have to worry that their thoughts, memories and even the things they remember may be fabricated. It's a writers ultimate retcon tool.

Let's try to be reasonable about it as writers, meta sense. It's useful tool, but context is important. I think whenever we establish whatever that thing she broke was, there should be some more context as to why it worked and how it worked on 42 despite the earlier scene. Not complaining about that scene, by the way! 42 continues to be the best part of any fight scene she's in by subverting things like talking about her abilities and just getting right to the action. It makes perfect sense that she wouldn't tell 13 how it worked or think about it so she could mind read, but right now we the audience don't know how it works either. When we know what 13 did, lets keep scale in mind.

Very much this, there was nothing wrong with 42's strategy, it worked flawlessly, but it was the fact she is very much not the best fighter currently that stopped her. 13 would be on the ground if not for the fact she's too brittle.

That's actually one thing I have to applaud you about Partyland, if that was you(You said tried but I don't know where). They established the reason why Igneous didn't like him was that he really struggled to be serious and put his hoof down. It was a wonderful idea to break him away from Pinkie, who goes off on freakouts if you break a Pinkie Promise, with someone who just wants to see everyone smile and has a really hard time being a leader or manager. Him wilting to Chitania rather than fight was a nice moment, and him trying to step up in the finale but not quite making it was great!

But then someone didn't like that, instantly had him switch on thread 41 into telling Igneous off, then he went on a journey where he was Spider-Batman who effortlessly beat everyone and then was totally boss so he could date Pinkie and nobody would argue.

Then he didn't date Pinkie and everyone backed away.

Sad.

His personal focus leading up to the 18 arc, his solo stories focusing on if he'll become an alicorn, his recovery post-Chitania where he questioned his mortality, I could go on.

Just putting this out there now, I had always had plan to make the wigs unique for each ling in the long run though they would be undeniably Applejack in design.

When you guys told me that most had gotten rid of them I was disappointed, cause I would never be able to give them ALL a unique hair doo and since I've tasked myself with giving each ling a specific neck crest, chitin design on the neck, and even ears... I feel deprived. All the sadness...

You could do a before-after thing with her. 13's previous form looked a LOT younger than she does now, but yeah by the time of the reveal there had been the Arm-Break and 13 was still Chrysalis Crazy, she wouldn't want to upset her queen reminder her about the mare who broke her arm, just like 7 wouldn't because he wants his headpats and she ain't patting him if it's there.

29 did have a wig though, I think it was mentioned smoking when he blasted his MEGA BEAM for the first time.

It was quick hooves that made their way through Canterlot Castle, deftly avoiding any questions or comments shot her way, all for the purpose of a single unified and direct goal. Get the gaggle of changelings, each having trouble moving in their own special ways, over to her lab with every single scrap of material she'd gathered without raising a single alarm bell or worried note.

Considering the state of those behind her, she mused it would have been easier to cast a spell with her tail.

>We're almost there, don't worry!

Her soothing voice did little to actually bring comfort to any of them. The silent Queen, slow lumbering warrior being dragged along by a magic band on her belly and wounded infiltrator who could do nothing else but be floated by her spell's soft grip trailed behind them with the same silent unease.

Learning of what had transpired from the two underlings to the Queen had been unsettling enough.

The way said Queen herself had stayed silent so far was enough to nearly push her poor stressed mind over the edge.

>Annnnd, there!

Like the light at the end of an endless tunnel, she could see her lab at last. She would forever deny they way her legs felt tingly as they broke off into a dead sprint, pulling the three changelings along behind her with reckless racing abandon, caring little for any in her way or any feeling those behind her had on the matter of being dragged around like toys to her whim. Though she could hear the sounds of those calling for her, begging for her attention, she had none to give for any save the glowing light at the end of the metaphorical tunnel.

With a breathless heave she slammed the three inside, slammed the door in the face of those who tried to reach her, and slammed shut all of reality save the important work that had to be done.

And there was no mistaking it, there was so much work to do.

The little dignity that could be spared for the warrior remained only thanks to the sudden vanishing of the band around her waist and allowing each long drawn out step to be taken on it's own without need of assistance. Eventually, her backside fell into the well worn seat that she had come to know through nothing less than sheer repetitiveness burning memories into her muscles, whatever few remained. She never even flinched when the myriad of equipment came down and instantly began probing at her.

That left one remaining.

"No."

And a reaction not at all unexpected.

>Chrysalis? Not the time to be picky, you just got hit by a level ten mind deceleration spell, maybe greater! We don't know what, if anything she could have planted in there, or what long term effect it will have on you!

"I... I can figure it out."

It was seldom a time when the Queen sounded anything but utterly and totally sure.

Even her slipping that down to merely being mostly sure was enough to give the princess pause.

"I know!"

The response came a little too quickly, a little too biting, a little too much fang and a little too much green in her eyes.

A little too much for the mare who'd had the day that had been.

Hooves went up, and that was the end of it.

She never saw it, neither of the changelings could see it from their angle, none would ever know.

None but the cameras around them saw the changeling Queen flinch.

Neither of the remaining changelings seemed bothered as those screams grew.

Neither still did the mare have any real agitation in her voice as she rolled her eyes at the pitiful attempt at a joke.

If anything it was the first bright moment in ages.

Everyone present pointedly pretended the sad wince beneath the helmet never happened.

Just like they pretended the voice had not been so bitter.

The changeling felt no fear when the sudden shocks ran through her, prodding metal bars with magical runes dancing over her body to find anything amiss and deliver a straight line of green energy to every bruise and wound they could scour.

And then there was nothing.

"...is that it?"

The mare shrugged as every blinking light came to life.

>My processors are going to have a problem, I can already tell. It's going to take hours before I get any reading at all on this thing, and that's assuming when the preliminaries are done there's no errors... I get the feeling there are going to be errors. But for now, I have nothing to do.

A curious eye rose, and a heavy rear end came down.

A single glare cut that off.

Sure enough on the monitor above, there was a frazzled guard on the other side, banging away and screaming unheard.

Yet, the Queen did not move.

"Oh, not now. Let's give her a minute."

The first thought was to scream.

When a single glance was seen of the side of her Queen's face, they all died within her.

But for now, they needed a minute.
