I never knew how awkward it was to talk about MLP to normies until today.

I need to lie down.

All I asked was how his weekend went. He was the one who said he bought all six seasons for his daughter, watched several episodes, and that John DeLancie is Q because he's a Trekkie.

>tfw I could have kept it all under my hat if I didn't interject with Celestia's name

Ah, yeah I know the feeling. My friends and I were talking about voice actors and he said "Yeah Tara Strong was in everything she was Raven, Timmy Turner and I think she was in my little pony or something." I very quickly responded that she's Twilight Sparkle without thinking and had to plead the fifth when I got questioned about it.
>>
>>30776343
Well if he's a Trekkie you spilling spaghetti about pone is hardly that bad. At least he's a fellow nerd.

But pone is a tough one. And really, if you can't entirely hide your power level you ought to hide most of it. NO ONE needs to know how far down the rabbit hole you've gone. In my case not even my wife knows the full extent of it. I know for sure she'd look at me as less of a man if she knew I spent a chunk of last week writing erotic greentext fics here. There's just no way to explain shit like that.
>>
>>30776505
>NO ONE needs to know how far down the rabbit hole

I actually used that phrase when I was talking to him, though I didn't actually explain myself.

I saw my neighbor's 9-year-old daughter with a Pinkie plush. Only time I've ever talked to someone about MLP irl; it was nice. Children don't know social taboos and are innocent and open.
>>
>>30776679
I snubbed a Starlight Glimmer plush at Build-A-Bear and ended up flagging one of my friends that I had an opinion of MLP characters.
>>
>>30776287
I've never really had a problem talking about it to IRL friends really, as long as you're not spilling spaghetti or going into autistic detail about it. Just treat it as one of many things that you like.

it was way back in 95', before Sonic became the symbol for ultimate autism
it was the history of Sega, Sonic and how he evolved from a basic mascot into a brand for Sega
I went into heavy details about the games, the cartoon shows, the comics and their influence on the fandom of the time
I still have a thing for Princess Sally and her VA does great sexy voices

same fucking thing with people who like mlp
no matter how much horsefuckers try to disassociate themselves from Bronies, they will always look like Bronies to normies
>>
>>30776666
Reporting on Sega by itself would be fine if you did something like "The effect of Sega on the Rise of Gaming Culture" or some shit like that.
>>
>>30776679
I used to do this. One of my friends has a daughter into MLP, and while he knows I'm into the show, I don't bring it up because he's not into it. But whenever I ended up alone with his daughter, we'd end up chatting MLP the whole time, and it was nice talking about it IRL, but I'd always kill the convo shortly after my friend came back.
"It's not! Cree-py!"

>>

>no matter how much horsefuckers try to disassociate themselves from Bronies, they will always look like Bronies to normies
That's because the distinction only applies within the fandom, and even then many see it as a silly one. But is kind of has to be there. When you have this much autism people get particular about the specific flavor they subscribe to. From the outside it's a bunch of grown men fetishizing a show for little girls, and there's really no way for that not to seem creepy.
>>
If you think it's awkward to talk about ponies with normies, boy oh boy let me tell you it's ten times more awkward to talk about ponies with another person who's into ponies. It's where you realize you're at a breaking point, either you rush to the nearest exist and shut up about your weird ass quirks for good or you accept your failure as a human being and go down a dark path with no return
>>
>>30778444
that's why you just dive in and ask them who the sexiest pony is
>>
>>30776287
Its generally not a big deal, usually the conversation goes down:
Normie: You watch my little pony?
Me: Yeah.
Normie: Why? Isn't it a little girls show?
Me; Yeah, its also one of the best social lessons shows I've seen and does a fair bit of sword and sorcery too.
Normie: but isn't my little pony like the care bears?
Me: Not since Hasbro hired someone they didn't fully understand and got back a damned sight more than they expected, but don't take my word for it go check it out yourself.

Based on what I've told people most of them agree its probably very good but admit they'd feel embarrassed to actually sit down and watch it. Their loss tbqh.
>>
I ended up drunkenly watching ponies with friends who are not into ponies. They obviously found it alright because we had it on for like 9 episodes. We were talking over most of it, but I kept asking if they wanted to switch to something different and they were like "nah it's alright". I just remember loudly explaining the plot as it went along.

I had a similar experience. A few months ago, while drunk I wrote something to my online friend that revealed my power level. Then we exchanged some banter and he disappeared. Haven't heard from him since. It wasn't my autism that drove him away, r-right?

I have three core friends of mane6 caliber with myself, so they all know I'm into MLP. Our personalities have all diverged a lot over the years, so their reactions have all been rather distinct.
>Friend A. The relaxed and upbeat one. Watches with his daughter and brings it up every blue moon because he knows I like it when he does. Wants Cheese Sandwich merch because he loves Weird Al. Doesn't actually give a fuck about the show.
>Friend B. The overly serious one. Clearly tolerates my talking about it only for my sake, quickly tries to change the subject. Gets mad when I bring up the fan music scene, thinks its bs if it's not remixes of the show because he has strong opinions on everything, even things he doesn't care about.
>Friend C. Always anti-establishment. Watched all of seasons 1 and 2 with me, loved bronies because he thought they were discriminated against and bullied, but after S5 hates MLP for being anti-communist.

Even though I know none of them care for it, being able to bother one of them with it every blue moon is a necessary release for me.

Because they're my best friends and MLP is a depressingly large part of my life, and it bothers me if I feel like my friends are getting too out-of-date with my life. Don't worry, I get to hear about plenty of things I don't give a fuck about from them, so we balance each other out. I actually keep it pretty down-low. They ask now and then because they know I care about it.

Also, wew, indeed. That friend actually looked up Harrison Bergeron afterwards at my behest, which MLPS5 premiere is based on, and he calmed down after researching Kurt Vonnegut. But then I linked him an article I found about MLP promoting libertarian agenda, which I thought was retarded, but knew he'd be interested in, but he took it to heart and pretty much wrote off the show after that. But he understands me better than anyone, so I'll tolerate all that as long as it's inert.

That's life, you're going to be pre-judged by everyone you meet no matter what you do. Be it your height, a pimp on your nose or a round jaw. Get used to it and stop blaming others for your problems.
>>
>>30788428
no it doesn't. I could pretty happily crochet in peace if it wasn't for the raging manchildren running around making me look like a fuckwit by association

>not that it matters, because I just crochet in my own home and enjoy what I do and nobody else needs to know about it anyway
>>
>>30788438
So you wouldn't bother minimizing the amount of things people might feel inclined to judge you about? Why do you brush your hair or your teeth, or bathe? You might look like shit, but that's life, you're going to be pre-judged by everyone you meet no matter what you do.

My point is, clearly, that there's literally zero reason to hamstring yourself like this, and that you can take steps in your life to minimize the amount of shit people judge you about.

Given that my hypothetical problem exists precisely because to the actions of others (Ironically, (You) included), your last statement is fucking retarded.

>>
>>30788453
The only reason you think people trying to show MLP to other is harmful is because it's MLP. If it was Games of Thrones in the same situation you would think it's fine, which defeats your first point that it doesn't matter that it's MLP and it would have negative connotations no matter what.
>>
>>30788488

No, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Socialism != communism

70% income tax is definitely socialism, but socialism is by no means necessarily 70% income tax.
Youth programs, some amount of environmental protection, emergency medical care, and you've still technically got socialism, at least in a similar vein to what Hitler did.
>>
>>30791389
Fuck off, Obama. No one wants to hear it.
>>
>>30791395
What?
>>
>>30791381
But the things you described are serious problems and very morally wrong, watching a happy cartoon and wanting to fuck a cartoon horse aren't.
>>
>>30791406
Of the things I described only the first one actually hurts anyone. I guess fighting for Isis might also do that but unless you become a suicide bomber it won't really matter, you'll just get killed quickly anyway.

And who says being a nazi is morally wrong? If you do, I disagree.

Meanwhile both me and my friend agree that wanting to fuck a horse is morally wrong and degenerate.

Defending some forms of socialism, namely those that DON'T take 70% of your income. I don't want to pay more than 10%, perhaps 20% either.

Just agree to disagree already. It's clear both of you respect each other enough to not fling shit but not enough to concede any viewpoints.
>>
>>30791728
Do you not know how much fucking research Nazi Germany produced? Science as we know it today would not exist without them, especially in the medical field. If that's not progress, I don't know what is. LGBTBBQ special snowflake bullshit?
>>
>>30791827
Medical research that was stolen by African slaves?
>>
>>30791827
And how is that shit relevant at all? Nazism has no connection with that at all. If you want to talk about progress you should mention Christianity, which is the actual reason science exists at all. Which by the way was described by hitler as "harmful superstition" because he was a braindead retard, who was unfortunately charismatic enough to get other retards to follow him.
I just don't understand how can someone preach morality and anti-denegeracy while cocksucking the most degenerate and immoral ideology to ever exist. The only way I can explain this is you're simply retarded.
>>
>>30791868
I only brought it up because you mentioned progress. If it has nothing to do with Nazism, then why has no country ever matched the amount of knowledge they added to the medical field? I'm not sucking Hitler's dick, but you're certainly the retard if you think he was the worst person to ever walk the face of the Earth.
>>
>>30791884
>If it has nothing to do with Nazism, then why has no country ever matched the amount of knowledge they added to the medical field?
Because to achieve that they had to kill and experiment on a million humans all the while breaking all human rights known to man. I guess you have a point then that it is in a way related to nazism.
And I'd say the amount of lives lost is a good measurement for how terrible a man was for Earth's history, isn't it?
>>
>>30791926
>And I'd say the amount of lives lost is a good measurement for how terrible a man was for Earth's history, isn't it?
Not that anon, but that's a very basic bitch way of looking at this. Julius Caesar probably killed more men in his many campaigns throughout his life while also expanding the territory and influence of Rome, yet history sees him much more favorably than they do Hitler, but by your metric Caesar was the worse man simply because "lol he killed more people".

Using a single metric to judge a man is foolish at best.

>>30791861
Hey do you remember what the thread is about?
>>
>>30791968
>Yes but that's the best we have
But it absolutely isn't. There are so many examples one can pull from the history books of "amount of lives taken" that would probably make Hitler look closer to saintly, but it doesn't accurately portray their character, nor does it accurately portray a measurement of their contribution to the history of man.

Alexander is another popular example. Also I saved your image.
>>
>>30791996
So what you're saying is you would consider a man's character when deciding whether he's a good person or not, even when you know he's caused the deaths of countless people?
Even considering someone's inadvertent contribution to history is dumb because you know the person in question was just looking to fulfill his selfish aspirations, not better humanity.
>>
>>30791988
Not at all.
>>
>>30792030
Hitler's "selfish aspirations" was to literally better humanity. He wanted humans to reach their peak potential.
>>
>>30792030
You're a dim one, I'll give you that. Death and warfare is a staple of humanity, and you're one naive faggot living in some self-created mental utopia if you think it isn't. But death and warfare is also what has consistently pushed humanity to the brink to develop knowledge and technology ever further.

>Even considering someone's inadvertent contribution to history is dumb because you know the person in question was just looking to fulfill his selfish aspirations, not better humanity.
I don't even know what you mean here, but if you're saying all the great things we have as a result or product of the countless lives lost is stupid, then not only are you a naive faggot, you're a retarded naive faggot.

Just stop using the Internet you are using right now, because it was literally invented as a need for the military and research facilities to communicate and remain resilient through war. In fact, if you live in the US, stop using everything you are using, because the US killed millions of lives as well, and it's stupid to consider the inadvertent contributions according to you.

I'm not entertaining you any more.

No, we call ourselves horsefuckers because we're too contrarian to associate ourselves with a fandom name. You assume all bronies are the type of faggots who badger people about a deeper meaning to the fandom, but most of those people jumped off the ride milk Steven Universe or FNAF while it is/was popular. Thinking just because horsefuckers is the name we use on the Secret 4Chinz Club (no girls allowed)â„¢ doesn't make us any different from the average brony.

Before I met my wife I used to hire a hooker to go with me to shit like movies or to dine at nice places, anywhere where going alone would seem autistic. It's not unusual for 8/10 or higher escorts to have most to all of their work be this kind of mock dates, and all I hired would dress and spruce up just rigth for the occasion. Wifey is a bit of a perv, so after she found out instead of trowing a fit she decided to pony up and be my "whore date" from time to time, likes to pretend she's a slutty teen and I'm her sugar daddy, which is odd since she's the one keeping us under budget all the time.
