I might have worded a few things a bit poorly for how I meant to come across on where I side on this issue.

What I really meant was that I don't believe it's a disease because, the way I see it, it's just an incredibly depressed person attaching the problems in their life to a root cause that isn't really their problem. Now for some, there may be an exception, but the vast, VAST majority of people, it isn't.

With the way social media creates an echo chamber, generally well-meaning people tell them they're right, or that they're 'strong and brave' for this belief. Unfortunately many of these people take their advice without any sort of actual medical opinion on the matter. There's definitely a higher suicide ratio than the average populace, no doubt about that from what I've understood. But again I don't think it has anything to do with this perceived 'dysphoria'. Rather, it's just these people realizing that by solving this non-existent problem, they've biologically crippled themselves beyond a point of no return. It makes sense why they were barred from military service, why would you put such a high suicide-risk group in with another incredibly high suicide-risk group? It's a disaster waiting to happen.

This is not normal, this is not a healthy way to exist, it is psychological and physiological disorder and needs to be treated for a person to live a healthy, productive life. Normalising this stuff is not okay, giving hormone blockers to children still in their developmental stages is not okay. It's a pretty exceptional kid who was born one gender but as early as before puberty expresses a strong desire to identify as the other. Historically there have always been a few of these people walking around. Plenty of kids look at a sibling and think that child has it better than they do because of their gender, and may wish for a moment they were that gender. I remember my younger sister looked up to me growing up, and when she was four she said she wanted to be a boy. There's a world of difference between that and some kid so motivated about the idea that they're obsessed with dressing like the other gender and getting those around them to treat them as such when they're like seven or eight. And sustaining that shit for a couple years. At that point why not acknowledge that we have options available toward that end? It's not like you're just castrating some boy so he can sing in a choir.

To those of us who can't imagine feeling that way it seems insane, but shit like gender and sexuality is imperfect. There are plenty of straight men who get off on wearing panties and dresses. Plenty of totally macho guys dream of getting their asses plowed. Plenty of us here want to fuck horses. If a kid who doesn't even have the pressure of a sex drive is suddenly obsessed with and motivated to identify as the opposite sex that's a very unusual kid. Gender is an illusionary social construct. How does someone that's never been a woman know that they feel like a woman or vice versa? They don't. They're just unhappy like a lot people but instead of living with it they self-diagnose that they're supposed to be something more than they are, applying all their own perceptions and ideas of what they think being the other sex is like onto themselves. You can't prove how someone "feels" they are inside, so discussion is pointless, and even if it were real, you can't change it, just fuck up your own body in efforts that statistically don't make people feel any better, which isn't surprising. Once you let people say, "I feel like I'm something I'm not" you open the gates to other kin and race kin and it just keeps going, then you get a bunch of transfem lesbian genderfluids calling anyone that refuses to be attractive to them discriminatory, but only when they're identifying as a and b. You either cut it down to male and female, or you just throw it all out and give up.

No, but all of the Abrahamic religions use control over believers' sexuality as part of their operating systems. So someone who believes in any one of them is going to be at something of a disadvantage in a secular discussion about sexuality, since very strong ideas about it are part of their belief systems. If you believe that homosexuality is sinful how the fuck are you even capable of wrapping your head around the idea of gender identity?
