I hate how they keep introducing more and more modern technology into mlp. It does not mesh with the show at all.

Technologically advanced but not overly so, Discord likely teleported them to a dimension adjacent to the puppet one for this.

Harry Poner was right next door universal wise but he was afraid of The Lord of Dimension Rite would find him

Fucking hate when they use Discord to allow the art design to get lazy. He fucking used a smartphone this season.

discord is like genie from aladdin.

But that really wasn't on the table. I mean even in earlier seasons you had dj booths and arcade machines. I don't know why get mad over a TV

Manehatten in season 4 was the defining point of losing the fantasy world. People will often cite that "back in season 1 Manehatten existed with skyscrapers and they even showed a statue of liberty ripoff!" Even when you ignore the fact that it had a very undeveloped aesthtic that still fit the world, the entire point of that scene was to show that the life wasn't the one what AJ wanted. It added to season 1's theme that being in a cozy town with close friends and adventure all around you was better than being famous royalty or living big in a city. In season 1 Manehatten wasn't there to take you out of the fantasy world, quite the opposite, it was trying to bring you into the fantasy by telling you how boring the city was. Season 4 shat all over that by making the city something exciting and new for the ponies.
>>
>>30773655
There's still the underdeveloped section of Manehattan though. For a while though it seemed like every other episode found a reason to go there.

The show was never good.

This, we never would've had this waifu otherwise. Besides the lore was always poorly handled from day one. As long as it's cute ponies doing cute things, who gives a shit?
>>
>>30773998
Yeah, and torches and table lamps in Read It and Weep (which also had firefly lanterns, oddly). I dunno' why it didn't bother me until later. Probably because I had started drawing MLP comics by then, so I was regularly thinking of what to substitute for tech.

>>30773589
That was NEVER the case even in season 1.

There's a noticeable creep in how much the world is getting humanized since season 4. I don't really like it. Just look at that diner episode in season 6. A restaurant like that would never be conceptualized in Fausts' Equestria. Human shit should stay in EQG.

>>
>>30775004

>>
>>30775036
I didn't say I liked the cities. I like the structure of the state. There's a big road with tons of people and stuff all around it, and then plenty of space to go fuck off to if you want. I just love the idea of vast, uninterrupted wild. Cities are cool and all, but when they're everywhere, it gets a little boring.
>>
>>30773503
Equestria itself seems to be analogous to 1890s to 1920s America, with some technological anachronisms like Vinyl's compact electric instruments and the arcade cabinets that get occasionally shown.

Equestrian tech seems to be most advanced in entertainment. it does make sense, since anything we use technology for they can just do it with magic.

Also, all their tech is magic powered. Since it's a never ending energy source, pic related.

Might just be that certain parts of Equestria choose to keep their towns down to earth and live in medival homes and use little technology, kind of like how some people in Alaska survive on radios, hunted game and whatever else the land has to offer.

It's safer, I assume. Especially since you can get your ass killed by Tirek or some other OP fucker in an alley if you step into the wrong part of town
>>
>>30773503

It's Discord, he doesn't have to explain shit.
>>
>>30775054
You'd like Oregon better. Most of it is forested wilderness, which is why it is home to so many nature lovers. It also has the largest number of abandoned towns of any state and it rains a lot in the Winter and Fall causing the area to fog up so if you want to do a Silent Hill, Cthulhu Mythos or Post-Apocalyptic LARP then that would be the perfect place to do that. The Columbia Gorge is even better because the grassy fields and wind farms make you feel like you are living in a Ghibli film.
>>
I think the most inconsistent point was Twilight not being familiar with computers in EqG1. Granted you could hand wave it as exposed to an alien alphabet and never having fingers to use on a keyboard.
>>
>>30777520
It wasn't so much that she was unfamiliar with computers but rather a Graphical User Interface. For her, the only computer interface she's familiar with are printouts for output and stacks and stacks of punch cards for input.
>>
>>30776207
>all their tech is magic powered

Seeing as no lights emit a magic glow, I'd say it's a mix of magic and electricity.
>>
>>30777571
>Seeing as no lights emit a magic glow
Yes they do, their light bulbs aren't like ours. They contain a little piece of metal that glows with magic just like Tanks propeller. But with the glass bulb on it looks just like a normal light bulb.
>>
>>30773503
I dunno, but to me, the world of Equestria is highly reminiscent of the world of "Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura" videogame.
>>
>>30777520
Not pony, doesn't count.
>>
>>30777442
But isn't also full of drug addicts and nogunfags? I went to Portland once on a river cruise and it was pretty disenchanting.
>>
>>30777724
I think it is more like Mario.
>>
>>30773655
Not this excuse again. There's a clear difference between 1920's and post 1970 and beyond technology, anon.
>>
>>30774493
>Yakima
>Walla Walla

>not original
>>
>>30777520
But they use the same alphabet in EqG.
>>
>>30773503
Depends on the episode and season. They jump from pre-electricity to industrial age to modern day and back again depending on where they are
>>
>>30779149
Not who you were talking to, but yeah, there are a lot of drug addicts depending where you go. (I think Oregon is actually where the meth epidemic got started, if I remember right). I don't know about nogunfags though. Oregon is basically a liberal state, but our gun laws are pretty lax, and it doesn't seem like that's going to change anytime soon.
>>
>>30773655
>Season 4 shat all over that by making the city something exciting and new for the ponies.
Really, it's a larger shift in what things are portrayed as appealing in general: S1 liked to invert a lot of the typical girls'-pop-culture tropes and even poke fun at them: i.e., the fancy ball is a boring affair that none of the main characters fit in at, the good princess is actually a machiavellian schemer with a sense of humor, the glamorous fashion industry is actually full of dicks, the cool jock squad is actually full of really chill and friendly characters, the handsome prince is a monumental cock...

Somewhere along the line it starts doing a 180 degree turn, until pretty princesses are speshul by default, making it big in the big city is seen as this super-cool thing, etc...

Is it really a surprise that they did a 180 on what Manehattan was portrayed as? It wouldn't fit their new story direction if it was this gritty, newly-founded trading port.
>>
>>30773521
Dude they don't give a shit, why should you?
>>
>>30774493
It is THE DALLES (two words) not Dallass, and it is in Oregon.
>>
>>30779234
>S1 liked to invert a lot of the typical girls'-pop-culture tropes and even poke fun at them
The overall arc of "Dude, dresses, lmao." in S1 didn't invert the trope in any way, shape or form.

Only in Portland and maybe the other major cities. Rural Oregon is conservative as fuck, or at the very least Libertarian considering weed is legal here now. I even once saw a guy in Tillamook driving a truck with a Confederate flag mounted on it.
