Not really. Yeah, it's childish and weird, but it only starts being a problem when it becomes a substitute for real life interactions, or you start to really believe that your waifu is real, and that you really are conversing with her in your head.

Sometimes I do imagine a tiny horse talking to me for a bit and then we have a short conversation. I reckon that as far as I'm aware I'm essentially talking to myself, it's safe. I also sometimes try to imagine what my favorite pony would have to say about me, as means of staying motivated, but when I do that, I don't always project their voice in my head so I can hear it.

To all ye who talk to imaginary horses, and then imagine them communicating back in any way, that is literally all you have to do to make a tulpa. You don't have to be a fucking zen master to make one, you just need to keep talking to them and keep letting them talk (or use body language, or laugh) back. Your brain starts to get good at simulating their responses and suddenly she can even start conversations. You literally cannot fuck that up unless you consistently imagine her with a terrible personality.

You could, if you wanted to, imagine how she feels or looks and keep thinking about that, but she's still a tulpa if she only talks.

If this makes you happy, keep doing it. All I'm saying is that 'tulpa' is merely a label for this process; not some difficult and dangerous undertaking.

Shit like this is why I love the internet. The weirdest fuckers can come together and share their feelings and experiences.

I talk to my waifu too in my head and sometimes I talk to her out loud. The latter just feels a bit weird to me so I prefer the former. Occasionally I have trouble imagining her voice and appearance but watching a couple of clips from the show helps a lot. She can feel like a real conversation partner if I focus hard. I try to keep her personality accurate to canon. She really is amazing and one of the best things in my life despite being an escapist fantasy.

Yes, with the advent of the internet information is much more easily exchanged and expounded on. It's very likely that the original practitioners of tulpamancy had no idea what they were doing. (obviously) Now there are guides and tips everywhere as long as you know where to look for them.
I'm pretty sure the horrible failures are mostly just creepypastas.
If there's no mutual love or respect in the relationship then that probably says more about you than the tulpa itself, especially considering the nature of a tulpa.
