Rubber gloves would be safer, but if you're picking a bunch of noses per day, that's a lot of gloves to be going through, since nopony will want another's boogers or essence of booger inside their nose. That's nasty, and unsafe. But, then again, no gloves means you're washing your hands a bunch, and overlooking how pruny your fingers would get, there's no guarantee that every wash will get absolutely all germs. And you can't use hand sanitizer because that will burn pony nostrils...

You would either have to charge a lot for fewer clients, use a special polymer glove material that won't fall apart after a couple washes...or just save the picking for a pony very special to you.
