I don't know why people cite that for their ages. It's pretty clear that Faust designed a world where Highschool doesn't exist and getting your cutie mark in middle school basically established your life. Faust also said their maturity levels were designed to range from 12-18 years old. Logically, their ages in season 1 would fall in this range, probably around 15-16. This falls in line perfectly with EQG, though the timeline is pretty fucked now and I'd guess they're now getting to be around 19 by season 7.

Looking back, I can't believe I used to watch this shit. Their theories are so outside of the realm of possibility of what the writers' intentions were. It all just sounds like some psuedo-intellectual nonsense when they view things from the lense of characters as if they're actual living beings who make their own decisions. I always wanted to make a channel where I actually analyze the episodes based on the intentions of the writers/storyboarders/animators rather than trying to derive meaning from characters in a show that especially in the early seasons had no real direction and continuity between writers.

I think that's my favorite part about his story.
