I've known I was going to see this in theaters since it was announce,d and never felt an iota of shame or self-consciousness about it. I've got an athletic build and decent fashion sense, so no worries about neckbearding up the theater. My town only has one theater screen so IF it's played I'll most likely be making fun of it being the only movie played with my friends. Maybe a group of people would go see it ironically, but I don't know of any other pony watchers at my college.

Though are you sure we won't get a complimentary toy when we purchase the ticket? You know, similar to how the Pokemon/Digimon/Yugioh movies gave out promo cards. I can't imagine them being high enough quality to be sold separately, though that also brings up the problem of if they are, the chance of getting something random and not being able to pick what you want or be able to get them all.

I've come to the realization that these people do exist and i accept it as part of my fate as not giving a fuck about my own collecting. That being said most people don't give a shit. I did have someone ask at the mcdonalds why i wanted all of the pony toys and all I said was I'm a toy collector and that I already have all the boys toys for that month. That TV show comic book men helped open people up to the idea of adults collecting toys.

As long as you finished season 3, you should be fine, since they're apparently going to spend most of th emovie at new locations. You'll probably just miss out on a lot of background cameos. Only major things that might come up:
Rainbow is a Wonderbolt. Elements of Harmony are inert in a tree now, but made Twilight a crystal castle with a map that predicts where they need to be to solve friendship problems, Rarity has stores in several major cities, Discord is good and besties with Fluttershy, Twilight has a student named Starlight that's best friends with a reformed Trixie, most Changelings are now rainbow deer-beetle things with a beta male named Thorax as their leader. That ended up being more than I expected to type, but I doubt that any of those major changes will even come up in the movie.

I would just jump in to S4. Since S3 was originally supposed to be a series ender, there's not any dangling plot threads to trip you up going into S4. Trying to go through S1-3 first seems like it might just burn you out before you even get to new episodes.

Why did you tell him? I had a good laugh thinking of a guy going out of his way to avoid everyone and end up running into the biggest portion of the fandom there on the first day.

In all reality, the way they are putting this movie up means it won't be like the EQG movies where they get a Saturday and Sunday airing and that's it. That being the case, if you want to avoid the most amount of people, going mid day (2-4pm) the second week of its airing would probably be best. It will help you avoid the crowd who really want to see it and can't wait and the mid day time avoids the people shooting for cheap morning prices.

School will be in session. If you don't mind having a few families playing bookie, the best day to go would be Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday with a start time of 1pm - 3pm (Unless going to a Marcus theater, then avoid 5 dollar tuesday). This cuts out the early birds going in for a cheaper price and the older people who come to the theater because they have nothing better to do and will just watch anything to kill the time AND avoid the post school kids coming to see it after 3.
