I don't hate Glimmer per se, but the way the show builds itself around her whenever she's in an episode for more than a few seconds bothers me. It's like she sucks up aol the focus in the show. Other characters don't have this problem (except Twilight in s4, but that was an odd exception).
Her backstory was pretty weak though.

I liked her much better when she was a villain. Much more interesting design, much more interesting character, and a much more interesting place in the show. She never really felt as forced when she was a villain as much as she does when she gets shoved into an episode these days.

But, this is all just my personal preference. If you like her, good on you.
