Thus, they can't lose the licensing gravy train, and Hasbro is the biggest of them all. They likely figured pony would hit the shitter in no time, but the power of autism turned it into a surprise hit, and even after every deliberately poor decision IDW makes, it still sells too many copies to kill.

IDW wants to be doing things like Transformers and GI JOE, which are easier to attract talented artists for.

Most of IDW's pony artists were/are relative unknowns, with the exception of Andy Price, and won't really go anywhere else. They don't make IDW look good. Being the "pony comic people" doesn't attract good talent, either.

Thus, if they want to be a real "big comic company", anything like MLP needs to stay in the trash. Only it won't. Even with a lazy editor and now an even lazier artist to drag it down.

My hypothesis is that he thinks his work needs no critique because no one gives it to him. In reality, no one gives him critique/redlines because they know that he'd ignore it anyway, he would just rush anyway, and they're not expecting much. People like Price/Hickey/Fleecs get redlines/revision requests constantly. There's a reason why Fosgitt comics get the lowest payment per page.
