Most people lied about it back then though. I think EQD might've done this poll before back in the very early days, back before they were the de facto face of the fandom (aka back in the "Pony in Lingerie" days). Did that actually happen? If so what was the outcome?

It seems like many of those who didn't leave in 2013-2014 and remained in the fandom for a long period of time became cloppers (the longer you are in the fandom the higher the risk of becoming a clopper, it seems), and won't leave because the MLP fandom in a while as it is their only source of pony porn. This means that over time the proportion of cloppers has grown and will keep doing so.

I was curious about that because I remembered a poll like that vividly, so I went and checked the past poll results.

These three are from 2011. They are less tactfully worded so that might play into it, but still only 23%, 33% and 34% of people respectively admit to jacking it to ponies.

I personally jacked off to pony pictures before I even knew there was a show to go with it. A scary amount of pony fans I've met IRL felt the need to more or less subtly let me know they do too. So yeah, I think honestly the vast majority of fans do, I do believe it's a big part of the whole pony thing, just some people are tactful enough to never admit it, and back then more people were than today.

I mean come on now what the fuck is "I like saucy stuff but no porn". What is that. I'm into ponies but I'm too prude to act upon it? Either you're sexually attracted to something or you're not. It's not like stopping at the tip makes it any less messed up.

From my experience, and maybe that's just me, it was mostly denial. "I like this, it's nice, I enjoy it, and as long as they have no pussies and I don't fap to them, I'm not one of those disgusting cloppers, so it's OK." So /maybe/ they're lying to themselves, but even if they are, they don't know it.

Simple, when you have one thread to diacuss tbe show, and it is still a new thing, you get a lot of show discussion and world building. Many people didn't want porn there as well. The lingerie thing was hilarious though
