It looks mushy, Dash is almost noodle arms there and their faces are the wrong shape. I also hate it when 3D and 2D get mixed this blatantly.

I never liked how the design looked since they released the promo pics back in 2016.

I'm sure the movie would've been better-received if the characters weren't emojis. It wouldn't be the blockbuster kids movie of the year, but it would've turned up a profit.

This movie isn't going to flop, people. Sure, the animation is a little different, but an entire movie in flash style would be cheap and not well-received in critics for being lazy. This is honestly the right decision for a full-length film.

We still have at least one more full season of FiM after the movie, which means at least another year or so of content. And I'm pretty sure the movie, even if it's shitty and does terribly at the box office, will briefly boost the fandom again to levels we haven't seen in a long time, and that activity will stay elevated for a while.
