A new CYOA about farming!
>>
The rain came down hard and heavy, though it was usually like that. It's what you get living in the small town of Seaside, Equestria. Situated right on the coast of the western ocean.
You didn't have much of a choice in the matter either: Being a little, four year old foal, that was homeless and your only possession being a cardboard box that was helping shield you from the rain as it came down.
You were the Seaside foal that nobody wanted. Sometimes one of the large number of tourists that came to this small town would give you some water, or even food, but that was it. Nothing else.
It's currently been a week since you had any food. It's been raining for a few days meaning only the townfolk that lived there came out and not the tourists.
You looked down towards the growing puddle in front of you and your box, looking at your form.

What do you look like?
>>
>>30632127
Green Mane, Yellow fur.
>>
>>30632127
Yellow fur, light green mane
>>
>>30632127
A trappish colt.
>>
>>30632155
We also have pretty curly hair and brown eyes.
>>
>>30632127
Maybe mint color mane? Not sure what exact shade of green to use.
>>
>>30632155
>>30632202
>>30632211
>>30632214
>>30632246
You had a mint green mane, and yellow fur. Your mane was quite curly, and you had nice brown eyes.
You were a colt, but with your mane being long and unkept it made you look more like a filly then a colt though ponies still could identify you as a colt. You were also covered in dirt, making you look more brown then anything else. You would wash in the ocean, but you didn't know how to swim.
You look at yourself a bit more in the water. It was hard to see the rest of yourself with all the ripples in the puddle.

Species?
>>
>>30632261
Pegasus?
>>
>>30632261
Earth. this is a farming quest right? Little surprised we even get a choice
>>
>>30632261
Unicorn. I am interested in being a farmer with a race that seems stereitypically above such menial labor.
>>
>>30632261
Earth
>>
>>30632261
pegasus
>>
>>30632261
Moth, obviously.
>>
>>30632261
Earth pony
>>
>>30632304
If unicorn isn't going to win, I met as well vote something else. There's already a pegasis farmer MC, so let's change that to earth.
>>
>>30632286
>>30632292
>>30632304
>>30632327

>>30632368
Your eyes must be bad because you still couldn't see very well.
You knew you weren't a unicorn, but you swear you could keep seeing wings pop up on your back through the ripples.
After a minute of staring you figure out that the ripples were just making you see the wings, and that you were just a Earth Pony.
You sit back in your box, only for your stomach to growl in hunger.
You still haven't eaten for a week, the longest since about a year ago.
You only had one Bit to your name that you didn't know, and you couldn't speak very well. You've been homeless for as long as you could remember, and the most words you knew were from a pony that spoke a different language from Equestrian: Spanish.
There were a lot of Spanish tourists in this town.

What do you do?
>>
>>30632401
>Your mane was quite curly
Interesting. If this is a natural curliness, then that is neat. If it is not, then mayhaps our little MC could be suffering from scurvy.
>>
>>30632401
Go into the nearest forest to hunt for small game.
>>
>>30632401
Go into the nearest forest to forage for small plants.
>>
>>30632418
Guessing it's natural since it was used during character creation. Though, it wouldn't be surprising to be suffering from malnutrition as well.
>>
>>30632401
Current condition...
>The rain came down hard and heavy, though it was usually like that.
>It's currently been a week since you had any food.
>It's been raining for a few days meaning only the townfolk that lived there came out and not the tourists.

Possessions...
>your only possession being a cardboard box that was helping shield you from the rain as it came down.
>You only had one Bit
>most words you knew were from a pony that spoke a different language from Equestrian: Spanish.

We have no name, and it shall be so until we are given one. We are weak from lack of substance, and susceptible sickness due to cold and lack of nutrition. Living though this shall be a challenge and a fight for survival.
Dig through the garbage, and find yourself something to use as a cloak and blanket. An old rug, a coat that's much too big. Anything will do. And if you happen to find anything....edible, then take that too.

>>30632436
>>30632455
To assume that there be a forest close enough for a young foal to travel to...In the cold, with nothing to protect him from the cold harsh rainfall?
>>
>>30632401
Fuck it. Find some weeds, flowers and grass to eat before retreating back into the cardboard box.

We should totally upgrade to a wooden crate in the future.
>>
>>30632418
>>30632436
>>30632455
>>30632476
>>30632506
>>30632515
You take a minute to admire your mane. It's been curly for a very long time. It use to be straight, and then it suddenly became curly and remained that way. Not that you mined.
You make a plan to go into the nearest forest to hunt for some small plants or small game if possible. There was a forest a few miles out of town, it was northwest and there are plenty of forests and mountains.
You get up and take a step, only to fall face first into the puddle. Getting an impromptu bath.
You lift your head up and look towards the problem: Your hindlegs. For some reason your hindlegs never worked, you couldn't even move them or feel them. You could feel your pelvis, which helped a bit, but not your hindlegs.
It was going to be a long crawl if you decided to keep going to the forest.
There was a nice garbage can nearby, much closer. You could also find some things that could help with the cold that was: Northwest coast Winter.
There were also some living weeds in the cracks of the cement nearby, though you weren't sure if they were edible.

What do you do?
>>
>>30632523
Commit suicide
>>
>>30632529
Nah, suicide is too deadly.
>>
>>30632523
Dig to find anything useful in this trash can. No way we're going to the forest if we can't even more our hindlegs. We need warmt and anything edible. Weeds are a last resort if we can't find anything.
>>
>>30632523
Shame we probably can't read or we could learn if the weeds are edible from the library.

Root around in the trash can.
>>30632529
Or this. Either works.
>>
>>30632523
Dig through the garbage to find food, make sure nobody sees you doing this shit.
>>30632529
Our simple earth pony minds can't fanthom this!
>>
>>30632529
How would we even commit suicide? We don't anything to make it a quick process.
>>
>>30632529
Well it would bring us closer to conquest but nah. Let's play the quest though.
>>
>>30632580
Do a backflip but try to land on your head
>>
>>30632580
>seaside town
>>
>>30632529
Hold that for a while. I want to see how long we can last in this Dark Souls tier difficulty.
>>30632523
>You could also find some things that could help with the cold that was: Northwest coast Winter.
Hmm? Did that mean that winter will be encroaching from the North on the west coast (where we are) and down to us, or we could find something to make the cold bearable North from us? How would a foal know this? Is it because this "help" is withing the town limits?
Dig through garbage.
>>30632546
kek
>>30632550
and not to mention definitely catching a cold in the rain from long exposure.
>>30632551
As if any of these cold hearted ponies would allow a filthy foal in a library.
>>30632580
>>30632593
Yeah. Just fall off a cliff and embrace death. But we ain't doing that.
>>
>>30632523
Can we do earth pony magic?
>>
>>30632600
He means we are on the northwest coast.
>>
>>30632600
>As if any of these cold hearted ponies would allow a filthy foal in a library
I think you are selling the ponies short.
>>
>>30632529
>>30632546
>>30632550
>>30632551
>>30632554
You could just commit suicide, though that would require a good height as far as you knew. You did accidentally see a pony jump from one of the resorts in the town. To say it traumatized you is a understatement.
You crawl to the garbage can and knock it over, quickly rummaging through it.
Fresh banana peel, possible but gross, three new chicken nuggets from McPony, a can of expired spaghetti, a half full bottle of Creature Energy Drink, and an old coat.
You gather it all up and start crawling back to your box, only to stop.
A pony was standing near your box. It was a large pony with wings, a orange coat, and a jet black mane. He appeared to be an old pony, but he didn't have the butt tattoo you've seen others have.
"The hell are you doing," He asks you; you not understanding half of what he was saying, "That's not your garbage."
He trots over to you, standing a few feet from you.

What do you do?
>>
>>30632634
I need food sir.
>>
>>30632634
>chicken nuggets
>in pony world
>>
>>30632600
>Just fall off a cliff
I meant drowning.
>>
>>30632647
In Nebula there was a small chunk of ponies who ate meat.
>>
>>30632634
Tell grandpa politely that you need food in your system. Also ask him what's HE doing here.
>>
>>30632654
If theres a small chunk of them, why would McPony have it in the menu? Some people eat shit but McDonalds doesn't have it.
>>
>>30632671
Fucked if I know.
I doubt this is the same universe so maybe meat eating is more common here. Maybe it is for the griffons.
>>
>>30632643
>>30632664
"Abuelo," You say; the only word you knew being how you would get an old pony's attention, "Food, señor."
"Food, huh?" He says; looking around a bit.
He trots over to your box, picking it up and studying a bit.
He then places it in the puddle and swooshes it into the puddle, ruining it. Before you could protest he trots over and picks you up, throwing you onto your back and trotting with you.
"Come on," He says; trotting out of the alley you were living in and onto the main street of Seaside, "Let's get you some real food into your pathetic system."
The word you understood was food.

What do you do?
>>
>>30632706
Follow.
>>
>>30632706
Go
>>
>>30632706
Hold on tight.
>>
>>30632706
>throwing you onto your back and trotting with you
Throwing you onto "his" back?

>throwing you onto your back and trotting with you
>with you
huh?

Food eh? Nod your head. What about my bit?
>>
>>30632745
Oh wait I thought we were on his back.
>>30632706
Follow him. Gesture to your legs so he will know we are slow.
>>
>inb4 foal prostitution
>>
>>30632706
Fuck it ok. Crawl out of there. It's not like we can walk anyways.
>>
>>30632770
Well somebody did inquire about a rugrats type quest and if people would still play it if sexual stuff happened.
>>
>>30632810
I was joking about the rape, f a m. I don't care if there is or isn't rape. If the narrative and player base is good nuff, I'd still play it.
>>
>>30632828
Yeah I know.
I doubt the rugrats thing was pluto.
>>
>>30632753
Looks like I need some food too.

>>30632729
>>30632736
>>30632745
>>30632754
You quickly start crawling after him. He quickly realizes how slow you were going. You gesturing to him about your legs.
He rolls his eyes and trots back, picking you up and placing you on his back. Trotting once more as you held on tightly to his back.

A few minutes pass. The stallion having trotted out of town and onto a dirt path that lead into one of the forests. Wherever you were going was quite a ways from town.
You soon reach what appeared to be a farmhouse with a field in the back, it wasn't growing anything due to the winter.
He trots to the house and unlocks it, trotting inside with you.
The house was bit on the inside, made mostly out of wood with old furniture.
He trots into one of the rooms and sets you down on a chair at a table. Trotting over to a large rectangular object and opening it up, you could feel cold air go through it.
"There's gotta be something here," You hear him mutter; turning to you, "What the hell do you like?"

What do you do?
>>
>>30632810
When?
>>
>>30632846
What did we understand?
>>
>>30632846
We like salty things.
>>
>>30632846
Just say food.
>>
>>30632860
https://desuarchive.org/mlp/thread/30575527/#30582121
>>
>>30632846
I'd enjoy several servings of not dying of starvation, thanks.
>>
>>30632846
I like spicy food.
>>
>>30632864
I am guessing not much.
>>30632869
This.
>>
Are we going all Harvest Moon up in this bitch?

>>30632864

>>30632869
>>30632886

"Food." You say; not understanding what he was asking.
He just sighs and brings out some food, which was an accumulation of a bunch of green foods, and what you recognized to be sliced pepper.

What do you do?

>>30633013
It's what I hoped to accomplish, yes.
>>
>>30633023
DEVOUR!
>>
>>30633023
Eat like you've never eaten before and say gracias or some shit
>>
>>30633023
Eat.
>>
>>30633023
Say gracias to the pegasus and eat the food. After you're done ask the pegasus his name.
>>
>>30633023
Cry and thank him repeatedly for what he has given. Cry a lot.
>>
>>30633035
>>30633045
>>30633052
>>30633060
>>30633062
You feel a few tears fall from your face as you quickly thank him and quickly devour the entire meal in only a few minutes.
When you were done you start crying once more, the stallion coming over and placing a wing on you.
After you finished crying you look up at him.
"N-Name?" You sniff.
"Oakfarm," He smiles; sitting next to you, "Do you have a name?"
You understood name. He was asking for your name.

What do you do?
>>
>>30632770
Some small part of me wants to suggest some sort of degrading thing some rapist called us once as our name but then the rest of me reminds me that is a retarded idea.
>>
>>30633126
Nope
>>
>>30633126
Something Greenhorn. Don't have a first name in mind yet.
>>
>>30633170
Give it your best shot, you might actually stumble on something people like.
>>
>>30633126
Lemon Peach, Lemon Mint, or something like that
>>
>>30633170
You know something we have been refered to as a lot could work. Not as a proper name but something to tell the man.
>>30633126
Say our name is cripple.
>>
>>30633191
Prettyboy is the best I can come up with
Not a very good name at all.
>>
>>30633209
That could work as our nickname working. Should our name be Lemon Greenhorn?
>>
>>30633191
M-my name is worthless whore

Lemon Grass?
>>
>>30633224

Greenhorn on its own would work if we were an unicorn.

This
>>
>>30633208
How about Bonita Potro? Spanish for pretty pony. Also sounds a bit effeminate which fits with the trap thing.

It would be in Spanish mind you. But if this foal had a name, how would he have gained one? It makes no sense for him to have a name. Where in his 4 year old mind would he have taken the time to give himself a name, when he's trying to survive?
>>30633280
This I support.
>>
>>30633280
Doesn't even have to be an insult.
I like the cripple idea because it is a factual statement.
>>
>>30633280
That's a lame way of doing it

You remember a while ago about running into a mean mare who did some things that you didn't know to you. You've mostly forgot about it except for the name she called you.
"...Cripple." You say.
Oakfarm shakes his head and sighs a bit.
"We'll come up with one later," He tells you; picking you up, "That name will do for now I guess, but I'll come up with one."
He takes you to another room, filled with different appliances then the previous one: Two bowls, one filled with water, and one high up, and then a large hole with nothing in it.
He places you in the hole and turns it on. You watch as water quickly fills it up.

What do you do?

I'll give you guys more time for the name soon.
>>
>>30633299
This.
It allows us to tell him something we get called a lot without making the townsfolk seem too terrible.
>>
>>30633299
I think cripple in Spanish is lisiado. Would the foal know enough english or spanish to say cripple in either languages?
>>
>>30633314
I still like Bonita potro
>>
>>30633314
Are we gonna drown in this bowl?
>>
>>30633315
Looks like it ended up going with happening in an abusive manner but if it was just one pony that's not a big deal. A good halfway point.
>>
>>30633321
>Pretty colt
there ain't nothing pretty about a dirty cripple. I'd rather the character live a little before we give or get a name.
>>30633314
Can he cut the mane and tail?
>>
>>30633321
Our nickname could be Nita.
>>
>>30633328
Agreed. It gives it a little bit of tragedy without making us question why we would ever want to live here in the future. It was well done.
>>
>>30633337
Why Nita? Does it mean anything in spanish? Why would he have a nickname in the first place?

>>30633314
Wait.
>>
>>30633314
Become scared. Is he going to drown. Not again! We can't swim!

From the way we reacted, being crippled is a new thing. Also, we could've been cleaner at some point.
>>
>>30633349
boNITA
>>
>>30633349
It's just shorter and simpler than the full thing.
>>
>>30633359
That was very bad. So bad that I don't think it should be.

Needlessly shorter.
>>
>>30633314
I'd like to hear the name this stallion has to give us.

"It's okay, It's okay," Oakfarm quickly calms you down, "You'll be fine."
You simply sit there and wait. The water stopping halfway up your belly.
"I'll cut your mane and tail later," He tells you, "I got a few things to do so take your time to clean yourself off. I think you can figure out what all the bottles are for. I do have a name for you if you like it: Lemon Mint, then again: It's a little feminine for a colt."

What do you do?

"It was an attempt," He says; getting up, "I'll leave you along for now. I gotta go do something, have a nice bath."
He turns and leaves. Leaving you alone in the room.
You reach up and grab a bar of soap, carefully grabbing your long tail.
You hear the word cut for it, though you weren't sure if you wanted to keep it kinda long, or just short.
Not paying attention, you then accidentally place the bar of soap in your eye. Your open eye.

What do you do?
>>
>>30633562
Oh wait silly me I thought we were talking about the hair.
A trap can still be handsome. Besides the trapness was mainly in the hair.

Thing is no matter how heavy the trapness is cute is still a silly name.

It is indeed a shit trait. Anon's would want to turn a nice rugrats SoL cyoa into a lewd quest. This will not do.

>you then accidentally place the bar of soap in your eye. Your open eye.
Lord almighty the pain. The pain! Quick wash it out.
>>
>>30633579
I like the mild trapness and think you are paranoid but I think that we should both cut the hair and not have cute as a name.
>>
>>30633579
There's no rule that says trap characters have to be lewd and there's nothing preventing anon's from making non-trap characters lewd.
>>
Hey guys. The MC is crippled earth pony. Think a little on that...
Were he any other race, he could substitute his lame legs with magic or flight, but no. He has to drag his lower half everywhere.
Looks like we got the short end of the stick, huh guys?
>>
>>30633614
He just has to work hard.
>>
>>30633579
I don't mind the trait personally as long as it's used to create humor and interesting confusion. As long as this doesn't turn into a lewd quest, it's all good.
>>
>>30633573
How about, Earth Bloom. Hows that name doin it for you lot?
>>
>>30633614
>he could substitute his lame legs with magic
How?
>>
>>30633614
It's a shame we can't put it in some kind of wagon with wheels on it to make moving easier.
>>
>>30633622
I don't think there will be much confusion as it was explicitly stated you could still tell we were a colt.

Also it is a Pluto quest. Moment we hit adulthood there will start to be lewd.
>>
>>30633632
he's still dragging his lower half around even if he's dragging it in a wheelchair.
Granted, anypony that's crippled is going to be dragging themselves no matter what race they are.
>>
>>30633614
At this rate, we might as well redo character creation with so many people trying to get rid of decided upon character traits.
>>
>>30633622
>Hello there little girl.
"I'm actually a boy."
>"Whaaa, but you look like a girl!"
"Still a boy."

Wow, this must be the highest teir of comedy. having the trap trait was such a good idea anon. Now we can read that four or five more times in the story.
>>
>>30633630
You serious? With magic you idiot. How else? Magic is a fill all role kind of thing. Maybe an enchanted exoskeleton made of wood, maybe telekinesis. It's magic dude. I shouldn't have to explain it to you.
>>
>>30633648
If you want comedy than you gotta play into the confusion a bit rather than shooting it down outright.
>>
>>30633646
Nobody is trying to get rid of anything.
Even the guy who voted for trappish wants a haircut.
>>
>>30633632
Even then, it can be a hassle. Going up and down stairs for instance. Or going up or down slopes.
>>
>>30633579
A trappy colt doesn't automatically push this into a lewd quest. Some seem to like it and want this to remain a SoL quest.
>>
>>30633648
Except that's not gonna happen. We are explicitly still visably male. Simply slightly feminine.
Theres nothing wrong with that.
>>
>>30633646
Don't be lazy. We WILL overcome our disability and become stronger from it.
>>
I was planning on one or two lewd scenes later in the story, but those are depending on later decisions. You'll be an adult by the time those come up.

>>30633583
>>30633594
Oh dear the pain!
You quickly slam your face into the water, wanting to just get rid of the pain. You do after a minute.
You carefully start rinsing yourself with the soap, washing away all the dirt you've gotten over the years. Thinking about a name.

You can start talking about names now.

If you guys want we can vote on the trap trait again, or not it's up to you and I personally don't care.
>>
>>30633663
Traits:
Trap (contested)
Yellow coat
Green mane
Brown eyes
Long curly hair (contested)
Name (contested)

Say our colors were mistaken because of the excessive filth and everything besides eye color is gone.
>>
>>30633689
My name is Master Cocksucker
>>
>>30633648
Same guy, but I didn't vote for the trap trait. Just something to point out if some anons like that type humor. I just don't care either way.
>>
>>30633689
It's just mild.
As long as it is the same very slightly feminine hair but still visibly male I am fine with it.
>>
>>30633689
Keep the trap. It's mild and not really a big deal.
>>
>>30633689
Stay as slightly trappy.
We should still cut our hair but we should grow it back long again.
>>
>>30633689
We're a trap. End of discussion.
>>
>>30633740
A very slight trap.
I want to keep trap but it should be miled like indicated here.
>>30632261
>>
>>30633689
Keep the trapness. No one is gonna think we're a filly. We just look much more feminine because of our mane.
Cut the mane. We'll grow it back.
>>
>>30633696
Against trap

We cut mane and tail to something shorter. It can be longer once the MC is more mature and can manage their own appearance.
>>
>>30633743
*mild
Also still get a haircut. We can grow it back.
>>
>>30633729
Are we still gonna have curly hair when we grow up? Not the curly type.
>>

Who knows. I guess we will have to wait and find out.

>>30633743
>>30633729
>>30633721

The point of the trap trait is to be visibly girly. Slightly trapish just means that we have a girly mane style, that anons are trying to get rid of with this mane cut the QM is forcing on us.
>>
>>30633740
predominately masculine
>>
>>30633780
I like Mint Zest and Bitter Roots.
>>
>>30633786
For fucks sake anon.
I was the one who fucking suggested trap. The qm implemented that as a girly mane and that is fine. We can fucking grow it back.
>>
>>30633752
>Are we still gonna have curly hair when we grow up? Not the curly type.
What? Did you just disagree with yourself?
His hair was originally short but became curly. I assume scurvy like this >>30632418 anon said?
>>
>>30633752
I think so. Would ruin the mild trap trait if we didn't keep it.
>>
>>30633786
Slightly trappy is still trappy. I am fine with that.

Anyone else want to voice their choice in names for the MC?

Will be Mint Zest and Bitter Roots?
Or any other one from this >>30633780 ?
Or what about your own suggestions?
>>
>>30633793
I agree. Bitter Roots seems like an appropiate name for us.
>>
>>30633797
Than we'd no longer be a trap. That is removing a core character trait.

>>30633812
Define what characteristics would make a colt "slightly trappy" besides mane style.
>>
>>30633827
A bit on the nose.
>>
>>30633699

>>30633689
Examine the hindlegs further. Try to see if we can move if at least just a little.
>>
>>30633786
>that anons are trying to get rid of with this mane cut the QM is forcing on us
The qm is not forcing anything on us.
Most of us want to cut the trap hair then grow it back so it is less unkempt. Only one person wants to keep it short.
>>
>>30633837
What part of hair fucking grows back do you not understand.
We just want to regrow it neater for fucks sake. It will still come out the same in the end.
>>
>>30633837
>Define what characteristics would make a colt "slightly trappy" besides mane style
Mane style.
Nobody wants to get rid of it outside of your head.
>>
>>30633840
It is a bit. I'd be willing to go with Mint Zest if Bitter isn't approved.
>>
>>30633851
And I'm okay with that, but that seems to be the only trait that would make us "slightly trappish", so changing it is a bad idea.
>>
>>30633837
>Define what characteristics would make a colt "slightly trappy" besides mane style
Mane style is how we are having him slightly trappy. We just want to cut it so we can grow it out again neater.
>>
>>30633860
So a regular stallion with a mop mane
>>
>>30633860
We aren't fucking changing it. We are getting rid of it for a few months before it grows back again.
>>
>>30633854
A "slightly trappy" character is not a trap and all it'd take is one anon convincing the QM to give us a new mane style to completely erase the trait.
>>
>>30633827
Chalk another vote for Bitter Roots.
That shit's poetic.
Pharmaceutical crops could net a pretty penny too.
>>
>>30633876
Than we'd no longer be even remotely trappish thus destroying a core character trait.
>>
>>30633877
Haor styles take time. We can always change our mind.
>>30633885
We would be untrapish for a couple months then would be trapish again.
>>
>>30633877
A hairstyle change can easily be shot down.
Even if we started on it there would be plenty of time for more people to come in and have the mc change his mind about the change.
>>
>>30633780
>>30633233
>>
>>30633885
A "Core character trait" is something like "kind, rude, silly." and happening to look like a girl isn't his identity.

There just aren't enough differences between a colt and filly to make a "slightly trappy character" excluding the mane style. Considering our hygiene and the way the old stallion has acted, I'm rather confidant we'll end up with a crew cut and a short tale. That's 100% masculine. There would also be nothing preventing anons to decide to maintain that or another masculine style later on, thus erasing every last trace of trappiness. Also, Pluto has made major decisions based on single anon's posts in the past, like an electrician hating wires.

After thinking about a name for what seemed like several minutes you find one: Bitter Root.
It was a nice name.
You look down towards your hindlegs as you continue to rub yourself with the soap. Still couldn't move them.
They've been like that for as long as you could remember: Your oldest memory of waking up in a trash can at around one, your hindlegs weren't working at that time either.
Your tail was now clean, but your mane was still extremely dirty. You look towards the bottles nearby, one of them had to bee for cleaning hair.

What do you do?

You grab the largest bottle and pour it onto yourself. It seemed to work as your mane was quickly cleaned, transforming you into colored waterfall from your mane.
You then use it on your tail. You weren't cold anymore. It was cold when Oakfarm took you into the house, but something must've happened cause the house was now warming up. You could still hear the rain on the house fall heavy.
You were soon done with your tail. You were now clean, and your true colors were being shown now.

What do you do?
>>
>>30634109
Go check up on Oakfarm and tell him your finished.
>>
>>30634109
The tube water must be a nasty shade of brown now. What do we do? Do we remove the drain plug? Are there any towels? Do we know what a towel is, or a drain plug?

Leave the tub and look for him.

The water was now a nasty shade of brown. You didn't know how to get rid of it so you just crawl out and onto a fluffy floor blanket that you use to dry yourself. You had a thought to just crawl back in and drown yourself, but you quickly push that out. Why it keeps coming back, you don't know.
After a few minutes you manage to open the door and crawl out. Finding Oakfarm at the table in the other room, setting something up.
"You're done," He says; looking at you, "Come over here so we can fix that mane of yours. I have a gift for you afterwards."
You understood: Come, mane, cut, and gift.

>>
>>30634212
>You understood: Come, mane, cut, and gift
An autist in me wants to start noting those things down to make a list of words we know so we can actually communicate.
The more reasonable part of me knows that would it would all be for nothing because the moment we timejump, we will be able to speak proper pony normally.

You crawl over and place yourself on the chair. Oakfarm beginning his manecut.
"What's gift?" You ask.
"A gift is something another gives to show affection or something else." He tells you, "I think you'll like your gift."
After a few minutes he soon finishes, giving you a mirror.
"You can admire yourself for a minute," He tells you, "I'll get your gift."
Most of your mane and tail were now gone, it still had it's curliness and you smile a bit knowing that it would quickly grow back to the size you wanted.
You turn around as Oakfarm comes in with the gift: It appeared to be a reinforced board with two wheels nailed to it and some straps nailed to some straight wood.
"This is a Stool," He tells you, "It's used to help ponies like you walk around and stand up, and I made it adjustable."
He grabs the wheels and pulls at them, spreading the stool out more. He then grabs the straps and pulls them up.
"So when you grow older you can still use it." He smiles.

What do you do?
>>
>>30634320
Lets give it a spin
>>
>>30634320
Let him help us put it on for the first. Afterwards, hug him tightly. No one has given a 'gift' to us like this before.

"Thanks," He smiles; hugging you back, "Now: I have one more gift to show you. It's upstairs, but the wheels are able to go up stairs so you should have any problems."
He starts trotting along.
"Come." He tells you.

What do you do?

You start following him as quick as your new mobility could allow you to go.
You quickly move up the stairs, the Stool giving you no problems with this.
You were unstoppable now!
You soon reach Oakfarm who was standing at the end of the hall at a door. He opens it up and allows you inside.
Inside was a bedroom. You've seen one once when a tourist took pity on you and allowed you to stay with her for one night.
"This is the guest bedroom," He tells you, "Though, now that you live here: It can be yours now."

What do you do?

He's giving Bitter food, a bath, shelter. He's show the most compassion any real pony has ever shown in the history of ever.

You cry happy tears and hug him. He had given you, Bitter Root, a warm place, food, a bath, and a place to sleep. A place you've been longing for so long: A home!
This was too much for you.
"Hey, you okay," You hear Oakfarm ask you, "You blacked out for a minute there."
You were now on the floor, somehow. You carefully get up from the floor.
"We should get you to bed, huh," He asks, "This was probably all too much for your heart."
You heard the words: You, bed, too, and much.

What do you do?
>>
>>30634901
This really is too much for us. We have to repay oakfarm some way back in the future. Got to bed. We won't have a bad dream tonight.

Get to bed.
>>
>>30634927
>>30634940
You make a mental note to repay Oakfarm in some way in the future.
He gently leads you to bed, taking your Stool off, and putting you to bed.
"If you need me just yell," He tells you, "I'll be in the room next to yours."
He gives your mane a pat before leaving the room. You quickly curl up and smile, knowing there won't be any bad dreams tonight.

The alarm clock in your room wakes you up as always at five in the morning. You groan and turn it off, lifting your head and smacking your lips.
You were now twenty-one, and you've been living with Oakfarm for years, helping him out with the farm and such.
You get up and swing your hindlegs into the Stool. It's been there for years, always with you. You still needed it, but lately you've been feeling small itches in your hindlegs that were far between and only lasted a second or two.
With your Stool on you trot over to your mirror, looking at yourself: You still had your long, curly mane. It was quite shorter then it was many years ago, but it was still long. Your more feminine features smoothed out very slightly, but not by much. Whoever saw you always thought you were a stallion, which you were.
You move a bit to see your Cutie Mark: You got it when you were twelve and have been happy about it ever since.

What's your Cutie Mark? How did you get it?
>>
>>30635008
Animal husbandry.
Our farm has the best livestock in the area because we always know which animals to breed with which.

>>
>>30635047
Oh yeah our care of animals as well. But the breeding should be our speciality.
>>
>>30635022
We earned by playing around with the animals so much when we were little. Of course, we earned once we bred our first pair of animals. Of course, we were too young and we were confused before Okafarm had to talk to us about what we just saw. An embarresing and proud moment for us.
>>
>>30635063
I am not sure how you can work the breeding aspect into a cutie mark but I suppose you don't have to have your speciality on your mark. Granny Smith has a general farming mark although her speciality is zap apples.

If we are going with general care of animals as our talent and breeding as a speciality maybe we should get it for more general care.

Guys. This is weird. Animals (cows, bulls, goats, and I think pigs?) are sentient.

Pretty sure it's only cows.

Sheep don't seem to be. I think you are wrong about pigs as well.

Your Cutie Mark was a picture of a tree, showing your care for animals and getting them to breed well. You got it when you helped a pig give birth.
You stretch a bit and trot to the door where you found a piece of paper taped to it. Oakfarm usually work up before you, the first thing he did was place your chores for the day up on your door.
"Bitter Root's Chores: Feed pigs, chickens, and sheep, plant first seeds of the season."
The farm was about forty acres in size. Every ten acres was for a different type of seed to add variety and to get the most out of each season. You always planted wheat, followed by two of your choices, and one of Oakfarm's.
It was the first day of spring and it was starting to warm up already. Oakfarm was getting really old so you've been doing more around the house, though there were places you weren't allowed to go. Mostly the attic.

What do you do?

When I found the thing, it was on a page about something called the tree of life. Land near oceans is notoriously poor farmland, what with salt and sand blowing everywhere every time it storms. Maybe our dude got his tramp-stamp by growing shit on such shitty farmland?
>>
>>30635129
>"The Celtic tree of Life is often drawn showing the branches reaching skyward and the roots spreading out into the earth below symbolising the Druid belief in the link between heaven and earth."
Maybe some time when he turned twelve Bitter discovered his earth pony physiology or anatomy was a cut above regular earth ponies. Specifically his magic.
As an earth pony farm colt, he and his foster father would work together to yield crops like in the ye old days where earth ponies tended to the crops while the pegasi did their weather magic.
A farming team to be reckoned with.
>>
>>30635187
Go do our chores.
>>
>>30635187
Check up on the chickens and see if they're alright. We should probably give names to them for fun.
>>
>>30635195
True.
But by the time the picture was posted we were clearly going with the husbandry.
>>30635200
Too late. Husbandry works well though.
>>

>>30635200
Well shit senpai. Looks like the two of us were slow on the posting eh?
The idea of having above average farming powers sound pretty good.
>>
>>30635216
Nah.
Little surprised we went with the tree. The heart seemed more popular and fit with our talent.
>>
>>30635187
Feed the animals and then get to planting the seeds.
Did we hire any additional farm hooves? Caring for 40 acres by your lonesome is difficult.
>>
>>30635187
I would select two plants to grow on our own, but we have no idea what's really demand around here. Do our chores.
>>
>>30635223

You exit your room and trot downstairs. You usually didn't have breakfast just yet.
You exit the house and out to the farm. The farm wasn't like most other coastal farms as they were usually on crappy farmland. Not this one as for five miles around this farm was extremely fertile land, which pretty much negated all the effects of coastal farming. This had the side effect of bringing jealousy to the other farmers nearby, specifically Oakfarm's much younger, and richer brother Elmfarm.
There use to be farmhands to help with the fields, but Oakfarm fired them all five years ago after he discovered several of them were taking his money and giving it to his brother. The two of you managed without them though as he was a Pegasus.
You trot around the house and to a small warehouse in the back of it. Entering it and pulling out the wheat seed packet, along with the animal feed.
Oakfarm's brother was slightly richer cause he used more modern farming techniques: Genetically modified crops, and force feeding his animals only corn. Oakfarm used the more down to earth methods as your feed was healthy and natural for the animals and the crops were always normal. The ponies at Seaside seemed to appreciate you and Oakfarm's food more.
You take all the stuff and move towards the ranch where all the animals were, but also separated. You make a note to name the chickens. There were ten now. This winter was pretty severe and killed all the chickens, you now had ten new chickens that just arrived yesterday.
You soon arrive and enter the chicken part of the ranch building, all the chickens stopping and staring at you.

What do you do?
>>
>>30635286
Feed them.
>>
>>30635286
Do we have anything to feed the chickens? Either way just feed them with whatever meal you got. Make sure to take good care of them so they have less of a chance of dying. Also check up on
>>
>>30635296
>>30635304
You put down the chicken feed, which was a large bag of seeds, and throw it at them. They quickly swarm in and start eating.
You throw a bit more in and pull out the receipt for the order of them.
"Let's see," You mutter, "Ten chickens, check. Zero chicks, check. Five males, check. Five females, check."
Everything seemed to be in order.

What do you do?
>>
>>30635346
Check they are all healthy.
>>
>>30635346
Now lets go check up on the sheep. Lets see how they're doing to make sure nobody is starving down there.
>>
>>30635359
>>30635374
You pick up each chicken and check to make sure they were healthy, they all were.
With that done you trot into the next part of the ranch which the Sheep stayed in. They had half of the indoor part of the building and a nice amount of outside area.
You enter it and look around. All the sheep were inside, and there were five of them, three females and two males, and all of them were three years old.
They baa at you as their customary greeting before quickly swarming you. They were use to you feeding them every two days as you gave them enough food for two days.

What do you do?
>>
>>30635440
Are the sheep fed? If so, pet them and go check up on the pigs.
>>
>>30635440
Feed them unless they were already fed yesterday.
>>
>>30635440
Check their feeding unit (forgot what's it called) to see if there is any food in it. Also see if they have any water.
Play a bit with the sheep before moving onto the pigs. Then after that we'll eat.
>>
>>30635449
>>30635457
>>30635466
It's been two days since they've been fed so you get five buckets of sheep feed and set it out for them.
The buckets were a mix of corn, wheat, oats, and hay. Everything a healthy sheep needed.
You move to their pens as they ate. They're water was good along with their salt licks.
Now it was time to check on the pigs: They had the other indoor half of the building, along with a smaller outdoor area.
You enter the pig area and look around. There were only three pigs, there use to be six, but three of them died due to sickness two months ago. You tried your best to help them, but sometimes they just couldn't be helped. Which resulted in a very small depression for you.
The pigs usually kept to themselves and they didn't have pens in there, preferring to sleep with each other.
You grab three buckets of pig feed and throw it into the feeder. They were hungry all the time so you fed them once a day. The feed was basically a mushy mix of a bunch of different veggies and hay.
You throw the last bucket in when the pigs swarm it, one of them rudely pushing you out of the way and onto the ground.

What do you do?
>>
>>30635550
>They're water
>>
>>30635550
Get up and get to work.
>>
>>30635550
Get up. Getting dirty is an everday thing around farms. Check their health. Losing half the pigs means we need to be cautious in taking care of the last three.
>>
>>30635550
Oi, rude much? I know you can understand me so be careful would you?
>>
>>30635615
How do we know they can understand us?
>>
>>30635570
>>30635584
>>30635615
You quickly get up and dust yourself off. Getting dirty is part of the job after all.
You quickly check on their health. They made it a bit hard for you, but they were completely healthy.
"Rude much," You say to the pig, "I know you can understand me so be careful would you?"
The pig simply looks at you and burps in your face.

What do you do?
>>
>>30635624
Go do the rest of our work
>>
>>30635624
Do the best middle finger you can with your hoof at the pig.
We should be getting onto the seeds by now.
>>
>>30635624
Pat the pig and continue doing our chores.
>>
>>30635630
>>30635639
>>30635644
You flip your hoof at the pig before simply patting it on the head. Going on to do your seeds.
You trot outside to one of the fields. Getting the wheat out and planting it, it was a slightly tedious task to plant each seed, but it had to be done.
"Hey Bitter Root," You hear Oakfarm after getting half a row of wheat done, "I see you're doing your chores."

What do you do?
>>
>>30635682
Yep. Ask him if he has any plans for the day.

>>30635682
Of course. Haven't I always? Well mostly?
What else did you want me to plant other then wheat?
And can you believe your brother? Or should I say "uncle" (with disdain)? Why did he hire those two guys?
>>
>>30635682

If you've read books and watched shows then you have a good idea of what a SoL is, yes?
Besides that hurdle with femtrap faggotry finally over, you can throw whatever you can think of into the mix. Maybe there are new people in town. Maybe there's a mob boss going about their business cartoon villain style (nyeeh!)
>>
>>30638336
Oak was 70 when he found you. He's now 87.

>>30635693
>>30636042
>>30636420
"Yep," You say, "Like I always do. Haven't I always? What else do you want me to plant other then wheat?"
"Well," He says, "I went down to town and bought my choice. There aren't any demands so I chose one I liked."
He then pulls out several packets of Jalapenos.

What do you do?
>>
>>30638785
I'll get on it then. Anything new in town?
Continue planting.

>Love to get some feedback so far and maybe some things to help make the CYOA better cause I've never done SoL.
Best advice I could give is to make the strongest characters you can. SoL quality is mostly defined by the characters in it. Make sure they go through some growth, and get us to care about them.
>>
>>30638785
Are there any other things I should do when I'm done planting the jalapeños?
>>
>>30638837
>>30638859
"I'll get it on it then," You say; grabbing the Jalapenos, "Are there any other things I should do when I'm done?"
"Not really," He says, "You know: I can do the planting for you. A lot of Ponies have moved into town along with the Guild. I can even give you some Bits if you want to eat breakfast there."

What do you do?
>>
>>30638899
How about we plant all this and go eat breakfast out there together? We attracted a guild into this town? There sure a lot ponies moving in all of a sudden.
>>
>>30638921
"How about we plant all this and go eat breakfast together?" You suggest.
Oakfarm agrees and the two of you begin planting the wheat seeds together.
"...We attracted a Guild into this town," You ask, "There are sure a lot of ponies moving in all the sudden."
"They're from Manehatten and Baltimare," Oakfarm tells you, "There's a giant fire going on there so they're refugees technically, and the Guild is apparently the Balitmare chapter who's building got destroyed in the fire."

What do you do?
>>
>>30639102
Hey Pluto. What's a guild?
>A lot of Ponies have moved into town along with the Guild
How long ago was this?

What are Oaks thoughts on the guild?
>>
>>30638899
What sort of guild?
>>
>>30639102
>There's a giant fire going on there so they're refugees technically
So most everyone from Baltimare are refugees, and the people coming in from Manehattan are coming here just because? That's, near I suppose.
What do you think caused that fire?

After finishing the seeding, Bitter should bath. A quick shower will do.
>>
>>30639126
It's a group of people with a certain profession.
Just the guild is a little non descript though. What guild is it?
>>
>>30639102
Ask him if we have ever had a big fire here in town.
>>
>>30639126
>>30639135
>>30639153
>>30639173
You take a moment to think about the Guilds.
The Guilds were established years ago and had different functions depending on the chapter: Canterlot's helped with the police force, Ponyville's were a group of adventurers, Manehatten's were basically a vigilantly group, and Baltimare's was for peacekeeping, and exploring. The fire was currently raging.
"What are your thoughts on the guild?" You ask.
"Don't know," He replies, "If they help keep the order here with all the new ponies coming in I'll be fine with them."
"Has there ever been a big fire here?" You ask.
"In the mountains, yes."
"What do you think caused the fire over there?"
"Probably a couple of kids who thought they put out their fire while camping."

What do you do?
>>
>>30639157
Imma shoot some guesses.
Carpentry, construction, art, bards, adventurers, mercenary, merchants, traditional games, brewery, lawyers.
>>
>>30639199
Get to wprk then head into town when we are done.
>>
>>30639199
To have this many refugees from a fire. It's mind boggling.
A fire that big in a city must have been monstrous. What have the fire department in the city been doing? Seriously, I don't know how bad they had it, but either the fire department is inept, rainclouds didn't work, or all the shelters in the city in the fire. Because if there were any then people might have moved into those instead of moving to another town entirely. That is unless the people coming here have relatives here or something.
>>
>>30639199
Don't forget to hose yourself off of all that mud and dirt after you're don't seeding.
>>
>>30639233
>>30639246
>>30639250
"To have this many refugees from a fire is mind boggling," You say, "A fire that big in a city must be monstrous. What have the fire department in the city been doing?"
"The fire apparently started in the shanty town there," Oakfarm explains, "The fire wasn't called in until the shanty town and a few nearby buildings were already burning. We only got two hundred of them, the city of Astoria got the most of them. They just came here cause Astoria didn't have room."
The two of you finish planting in an hour. You quickly hose yourself down before the two of you head into the city with Bits.
It was a short walk to Seaside, not very long, but also not short.
After several minutes of walking the two of you come into sight of Seaside, where you could see a small tent city nearby. The town was apparently quickly trying to build some housing for them. The Baltimare Guild got an abandoned warehouse nearby to set up shop in.

What do you do?
>>
>>30639337
Maybe start some small talk with the refugees.
What does Oak think? Think we could hire a refugee or two? Surely none of them won't try to dwindle us like the last ones.
>>
>>30639337
Do you think the refugees will build permanent homes here, or do you think they might return to Baltimare once the fire dies down?
>>
>>30639373
>>30639441
The two of you decide to go to the tent city before getting food.
"What do you think," You ask Oakfarm, "Think we could hire a refugee or two?"
"Possibly," He says, "They probably won't go behind our backs, and some helpers might be good for you when I inevitably pass."
"Do you think the refugees will build permanent homes here?"
"Maybe," He says, "Depends if they have anything they can go back to."

What do you do?

"My parents are dead, my brother hates me, and my sister fell of the face of the world," He tells you, "I don't have a lot left in the family department."
The two of you soon arrive in the tent city, though the mood was extremely somber. Ponies walking around with heads hung low, and not talking.

The two of you go in and sit down, a waiter coming by a few minutes later.
"You two can't get enough of this place, huh," She asks, "The usual for you Oakfarm?"
"Yes, please."

"A bagel with cream, some veggies, and an orange juice." You tell her.
"Got it," She says, "I'll get it right out soon."
She soon leaves to prepare your food.
You then start thinking: With Oakfarm nearing the end of his life it was almost time to start looking at producing an heir of your own. You just needed to find a good mare to settle down with.
You start looking around the stop, there weren't very many ponies in there right now. The only mare in there was the waiter that took your order a mare you knew from school named: Current. She was nice, but she was a lesbian.
The town of Seaside actually had a small shortage of mares, unlike some towns that had the opposite problem. The new refugees might solve that problem.
You hear the door open and look. Two ponies walked in, wearing the Baltimare Guild uniform. One was a Pegasus Stallion who was large and seemed to have a aura of authority around him, the other was a smaller then average Earth Pony mare. She seemed to have the same aura, but subdued.
The two stand there for a moment before heading up and ordering their food. The mare looking around while the Stallion ordered his food.

That's a grim train of thought. Do we really need to actively look for someone? I'm sure the day will come when it does.

>She was nice, but she was a lesbian.
[Insert lesbian joke]

Wave down the two guard ponies and offer to have them eat at the same table. If it's big enough.
Ask them about the Baltimare fire.

Maybe it was a bit early to be thinking about finding a mare. The day will come when you do.
After they get their food you wave them down and get them to sit at the table with you and Oakwood. Asking them about the Baltimare fire.
"It's pretty big," The stallion starts, "The entire city was evacuated, but we're expecting the casualties to be high. I'm guessing you're from around here?"
In the corner of your eye you notice the mare staring at your Stool, which you took off to sit down at the table.

What do you do?
>>
>>30640066
Oh yes we do. We're farmers. I'm Bitter Root, pleasure to meet you. And this is Oakfarm my father.

"Curious about my Stool," You ask her; getting her to jump a bit, "It's alright to be curious and ask."
She blushes a bit and looks away.

"Most of the Guild has decided to stay here in Seaside," Greathawk tells you, "I don't know why, but I'm not complaining."

"I can give you a tour of our town," You tell her, "Would you like that, Raven?"
She gives a shy nod. She was wearing a lot of armor so all you could see was her face, which was black, with black eyes, and what appeared to be a bit of a black mane.
"Is there anything you would like to ask about the town?" You ask.
She quickly writes something down.
"I'd love to know about the Little Strip, and the Roundabout at the end." It read.
The town was kinda small: In the middle was the Little Strip, the main road in town and named that by the tourist cause of all the little shops and resorts it held. On each side of the town were a few more shops and a little bit of more industry, and beyond that were houses. On the other side of town was the highway, and across it was a bit more of the modern stores and shops, and beyond those were the older housing, and beyond that in the mountains were the farms. At the end of the Little Strip was a roundabout, which had several steps that lead to the beach and the ocean, all the resorts were on next to the beach.
"One earth pony and one Pegasus," You say, "Did you two have an Earth pony and a Pegasi for parents or were your grandparents one of those?"
"Our grandparents." Greathawk replies.
You look a bit towards Little Raven. You weren't sure why she was blushing, and why it remained, but she was trying her best to just focus on her food while giving you extremely quick glances.

Wow. Not to say anything mean about the character color palette, but it seems she was not blessed with a diverse choice of colors.
>>
>>30646131
She's obviously being shy because of our presence as those quick glaces hint at. Let's not jump to conclusions on why we're making her blush, though.

Ms. Raven looks like she's'll be hot because of her dark colors. Good thing we live near the coast so you can stay cool.

"So what were me n' pa doin in town again?" You ask; using the southern accent you loved to make fun of.
"I think we were going to the market so you can choose some seeds for this year." He tells you.
"Ready to head on out to the Little Strip?" You ask Little Raven; who gives another shy nod.
The four of you get up and pay for your meals. Greathawk goes back to the warehouse, but not before telling Little Raven to go back to the warehouse at noon.
The three of you are soon walking up the Little Strip. It was still early in the morning so there wasn't a lot of ponies out. Little Raven starts looking around, probably memorizing all the shops and streets for later.
You start to think about possibly asking around later about where you came from, or when they noticed you around Seaside. You were a bit mad that they didn't help, but you slightly understood why as most of the ponies that lived in Seaside were of lower incomes.

What do you do?
>>

You weren't sure if it really mattered where you came from. You were abandoned by your parents as far as you knew, and you doubted if anybody would even remember when you appeared.
You continue showing her the strip, soon arriving at the roundabout where you now had a nice view of the ocean, and the beach.
"This is a nice view." Little Raven writes.

Did I mention having to live in a cardboard box and begging for food? I was eventually a foal hobo.

>>30646445
>Does it really matter where we come from?
Yeah. It would be good for us to know the circumstances as to how Bitter was abandoned and for what reasons. It may not have affected him much, but any amount of closure is "nice."

Where did Oakfarm go? He still with us or did he leave to take care of other business?

"Somepony would've saw them if they were," Oakfarm says; having been silent for most of the time, "It's really easy to see who lives here and who is just visiting."
That was true as the tourists either spoke Spanish, or they looked lost in the town.
"I was thinking about asking around town about it," You say, "Though I'm not sure if I even want to try it."
"We could ask the Celestial Church," Oakfarm tells you, "That's where I found you."
You remember the Celestial Church. While you weren't too religious the church was where you kinda lived with your cardboard box when you were homeless. They didn't seem to care that you were there, but they could know something.

What do you do?

So we have yet to show Raven the few shops, industry and houses on the sides of the town, but she can probably visit those at her own. Now that the tour is mostly taken care of, would she like to part ways so we can go buy the seeds for the crops (sweet potatoes), or would she like to continue traveling with us?
>>
>>30646892

"Sounds like a fine idea," He says, "But, the climate might not be right for them. We'll have to see."
"I've told you quite a bit about myself," You say; turning to Little Raven, "But, I want to get to know you as well. Can you tell me a bit about yourself?"
She blushes again and starts writing.
