The problem isn't the mantra doesn't work. The problem is not enough people believe in it anymore. People would sooner say "well we can't" and let the problem get worse then try to take back what little remains. The fandom lost its morale. That's why we always argue.

Some people can try to be paragons of change, and it helps a little, but it's often ineffective due to lots of internal resistance, and when it does work it's quite slow.
