The problem comes from when people who want to talk about what they enjoyed and people who want to talk about what they hated start stepping on each other's toes. There's an invisible tug-of-war in posters' minds for a board consensus, in which ALL of /mlp/ has to like something or hate it, and when a particular side starts getting louder in how much they like/hate something, the opposition feels threatened due to the fact that they hated/liked that same thing, and must lash back to make their voice heard and secure future discussion and enjoyment of that thing. The degree to which the backlash happens can make it seem like everybody's doing it, i.e. you feel like everyone's attacking those who criticize the show when you have no verifiable way of knowing that literally "everyone" is doing so (and in all likelihood, isn't—you don't even know the opinions of the lurkers). This is you feeling like your voice isn't heard, so a thread like this gets made.

Oddly, a consensus isn't possible, yet it's something we as humans fundamentally strive towards. Otherwise there would be no point in having a discussion board if the potential anger, annoyance, and pain you get from people disagreeing with you/mocking your opinion outweighed the sense of belonging in finding the people who agree with you.

Wasn't going to take the bait earlier but since the thread's still up I'll tell you why you're wrong.

MLP season 1 was fucking magical because it wasn't completely adventure oriented. If it was just an adventure show with all that stuff then it wouldn't be a little girl's show, it would just be a boy's show with girly colors and female protagonists. Season 1 was legitimately a groundbreaking take on making a show for girls with honest femininity that didn't just go the typical girl power action route or simply just do girly girly shit for the sake of it like tonight's EQG shorts. It didn't fall into girl's show cliches like throwing down pretty boys for the characters to gush over and instead poked fun at these types of things like with Blueblood. It was about breaking girl's cliches while still respecting that the characters are girls. The whole thing had a sarcastic take on every girl's trope imaginable.

Look at Suited for Success and Green Isn't Your Color. Episodes absolutely dripping with estrogen and femininity that are both amazingly well done in both narrative and their humor and would never be seen in an adventure based show. MLP season 1 whether intentional or not was a perfect showing of how flawed modern feminist's take on girl characters are where they're not allowed to be girls and instead are pushed to just be strong, confident, and brave in an attempt to emulate men. The season ends by totally shitting on the high class royal life, not like every other show where they have a princess be a strong warrior, but with a statement that a quite life in a charming town with your friends is better than riches and being a princess.

Compare MLP season 1 to Game of Thrones or any other show where women have no identity as women and instead are just exact copies of men. We're at the point where Jon Snow is unironically calling for all woman and young girls to come to war with him.
