The mane six aren't going anywhere, hasbro knows they hit gold here; prior editions of MLP just ran on the "Cute ponies" aspect without a real iconic set of characters or concepts, the mane six are an unprescedented success for the series to have such recognition and love from the public.

I'm guessing this will happen when FiM ends and we get a new MLP show, but current gen mane6 is way out of their expiration date imo.

This is my major pet peeves I got for S7 so far, and while it's good as a show about "cute ponies" the show's focus is kinda departing from a mane6 and shifting towards one shot characters and secondary characters which is like I stated, not in a healthy condition as a show about mane6.

Since the movie is basically for normies, its almost acting as if it were starting from square one, so to speak, in the universe and things: There's no discord, no Starlight (apart from a cameo), No elements of harmony...
Everything exists solely to introduce the mane characters to the audience as if it were the pilot episode. As such, there's no magical power ups or lore or baggage.

So we might get a good adventure episode that tries to play to each of the six's strengths specifically in order to have them contribute and "sell" them to the newbies. Might even have a new form of the EOH show up at the end to retread that (and since the old ones are stuck in a tree)

I think the movie will be a standalone thing and I'm not sure if it'll bring newcomers to the show or it'll integrate to the show judging by the show's current status and what we know about the movie so far.

We may be getting a little more lore coming down the pipe soon though, given how they're pushing this legends of magic thing as a plot line for the second half of the season, and will probably get some starswirl the bearded info coming up too.
