The whole episode is basically, for the lack of a better word, cringe comedy. You have Big Mac crossdressing, pretending he's AB's auntie or whatever, and everyone can tell from the first minute. The notion behind it is sweet, yes, his confession at the end is heartwarming and emotional, but the first 20 minutes (or like the middle 15) are just embarrassment, whether you empathize with it or laugh at it. That's not the reason why I watch the pony show, so I mostly avoid the episode like the plague. Doesn't help that I don't really care for either Big Mac or Applebloom.

It was the only episode I could think of that did cringe comedy well; Big Mac doing something cringey to help someone made it more sympathetic compared to the cringe moments in an episode like Newbie Dash or Showstoppers and the fact that everyone knew about Big Mac made it funny.

I dunno. I get bored with most episodes in S7 halfway through. The songs aren't good, the jokes don't hit as well, after watching the episodes I get a craving to watch some older, better episode instead. If I don't have fun, the episode can be average at best.

NAfT was shit. Pinkie was obnoxious as usual, episode spends half its time going "let me help you!" "no!" over and over again. There's nothing funny, nothing interesting, nothing trilling. As a dashfag Newbie Dash just really fucked me up
>>
>>30586913
Wow /mlp/ has some shit taste.

>>30587072
Yea, when you compare how Dash's arc closed to the CMC, its pretty insulting. Newbie Dash would have been better with a Crusders of the Lost Mark like episode before it.

And if you thought that was bad, wait until you see Cart Before the Ponies where the writers ruin the relationship between the CMC and their sisters by writing the older sisters horrendously awful to the point where they are tormenting the CMC throughout the entire episode.

>>
>>30588069
Faggot Deer + Spike, Faggot Deer Glimmer Boogaloo, Daring Do and annoying Pinkie, CMC episode, Party of One except much more worse, dumbed down characters like it's the pilot again with unfunny one-liners aimed at 4 year olds and lots of uninteresting new characters
>>
>>30588139
>CMC episode
But every CMC episode from season 3 onward has been good with one exception.
>>
>>30588139

Not a fan of Thorax?
>>
>>30588256
If you like them, more power to you. I didn't like them even back in S1 when they were adorable squeaky kids, and nowadays it's even worse. Remember when Sweetie used to voice crack, remember her singing Hush Now, Quiet Now or the theme to that montage where they go crusading in Show Stoppers? That shit was cute, so it was something. Nowadays, past CotLM especially, I can't really force myself to care about them. Their charm is gone to me.

>>30588297
Not a fan of Thorax, not a fan of the reformation, not a fan of how it murdered the potential for Changelings to be cool. And now they're going to do it again with Larynx or whoever.

That's because the writers had the CMC develop and grow throughout the seasons, going from immature children in staremaster to much more mature children by season 6. They are only three of a handful of characters who have consistently grown throughout the show.

>>
>>30590624
All of the sane people are leaving /mlp/ for other messaging boards; leaving only the deluded who thinks season 1 was the best season.
>>
>>30590732
So the people that think the new seasons are (still) good are leaving but the ones that think the old ones were the best are staying?
Great logic
>>
>>30590624
When I took the averages, and this only has 39 of them for whatever reason, I got this for favorite seasons in each list:
>S1 19
>S2 8
>S6 7
>S5 6
>S3=S4 1

I think it takes a special kind of autism to go through and sort through 6 seasons of episodes nowadays, so that hurts the responses. 42 is a discouraging number still, but I'm going to try after S7 nonetheless. Worst case scenario I'll find another way top do it next time.
>>
>>30591814
That is legitimately a problem, you need dedication to participate, so the more casual and new fans won't bother as much as the hardened veterans. 25/43 respondents have been here for more than 5 years. Only four are here three or less years.
>>
>>30591894
I tried a method that let people just vote on as many as an individual wanted and that caused the top 5 voters to be 30 or 40% of the total votes. Last one took me an hour and the new season will likely add 15 minutes to it with the usual method I use.
I haven't done much research recently, but I remember looking before that it's hard to find a good method to sort 150+ items worth of stuff. I'm always open to ideas if some clever Anon were to think something up though.
>>
>>30591362
They are leaving because of how obnoxious /mlp/ is obviously.

Make several different posts about it over a few weeks rather than just one. I know /mlp/ loves season 1, but I am skeptical that those results are really representative of /mlp/'s opinions.

Kill yourself OP
>>
>>30594907
A lot of season 1 episodes are vastly overrated and are worse when compared to episodes in the later season. People like winter wrap up because it was better than many of the episodes before it, but if it aired in season 4, people would be indifferent towards it at best.
>>
>>30594852
Agree on the season 1 bit. I normally hold the survey over a month and try and keep a thread up for it then. Again, it's the method required that's killing it though. I'm gonna have to either try it one more time or figure something better out when I do the post season 7 survey. I like having the opinion solidified in graphs and data too much to let this die easily.
>>
>>30595001

>That is legitimately a problem, you need dedication to participate, so the more casual and new fans won't bother as much as the hardened veterans
false. ive already clarified why veterans dont bother anymore. i myself was voting in every poll up until the second s5 poll, then i said fuck it.

you go through and look at the bullshit that people are posting and the OP is counting it just screams bias.
im not going to spend 6 hours sorting episodes carefully only to be matched by some faggot that doesnt actually give a shit and just clicks up every s1 and s2 episode in less than an hour. hell, im sure some people even fill out more than one.

i dont know how the problem could be fixed, but as it stands theres literally no reason for anyone who gives a fuck to do this poll. its too much invested time for something thats easily corrupted.
>>
>>30595093
Not everyone does this and when they do, its usually rewatching the entire series in order.
>>
>>30595001
i think most people like it for its song. the entire episode was decent, but nothing special aside from that.
the song was A+ though
>>
>>30595139
Really the only fix is to have enough people participate that that is reduced to a small voice that the data will filter out. Flip side of that is that if there's enough Anons with an opinion then maybe that is the opinion. I'd never try and objectively say where that is, but it's a thought I've tried to keep in mind when I do these.
Thanks for participating in the ones you did anyway. Do you think it was better before or was that bias always there? Think you could pick which survey it became overwhelming in? Something gives me the feeling S1's average will correlate with it.

you can look at the episode polls and compare them to this major poll outcome and get an idea of how biased people are being. the fact this poll now lines up pretty well with the noisy minority opinion is very telling.
i couldnt say when the turning point was, but it was likely right after this one.

Maybe instead of doing all seven seasons together, make seven different threads for each season, then take the average top 5 and bottom 5 episodes of each season and have anons rank those.
>>
>>30596099
already suggested a 1-10 rating system for each episode, or 1-20, or whatever number range people think would allow for the most accurate ratings, but the idea is shot down everytime.

>>30596131
I'd try it if it could be done in such a way that a small web page could be ran through that generated a list for each person with the rated episodes sorted by episode number like the normal sorter has.
>>
>>30596575
if you could find a mediocre programmer (try the content creator thread) then you could make your own sorting program.

id suggest something that first asks you to rate every episode from 1-50, and then at the end has you do the classic tournament system where you then have any draws battle each other for the final sorting. it then puts them all in a list you can copy/paste into the thread in order and shows the rating next to each episode.
