I'm curious of the princess' status at the beginning of the movie and want to know if you saw them there in any of the snippets. Thanks anon. I'm guessing then there's no real telling what the princesses' status is at the moment. Hearing the first clip of 'Celestia told Luna...' and then 'Luna can't' about finding the hippos, I'm continuing to fear they're going to be captured/defeated in the first 10 minutes of the movie in a humiliating fashion just like every other big-threat in the finales/openers and that would really piss me off by this point, so I'm holding on hope that whatever the reason Celestia/Luna aren't involved is something respectful and sensible rather than just disrespecting their characters yet again to hype another threat.

Oh no, it'll definitely be something stupid where Celestia and Luna get captured in the first few minutes of the movie and it's up to the Mane 6 to go to other kingdoms for help fighting the Storm King. That's pretty much guaranteed at this point. They're building up SK to be a really big existential threat to the point where they have to leave Equestria and find sky pirates and merponies, so "the Princesses were on vacation" won't cut it.
