Why would anyone in their right mind even consider liking Rarity? She is the epitome of shallow characters and pandering to superficial meaningless archetypes. I wanted to check the leaks to make sure it had a good post game.I was more of a pokefan than a MLP one back then and I wanted to see the quality of ORAS.

I began on Reddit(inb4 going to reddit) and then,while searching results,I found out some threads of /vp/.

I saw many more opinions there and I learned how to tell the fake from the truth.It was more entertaining to see more info or posts at the instant

after buying the game and checking the post game,turns out it was just disappointing and left me cold.

I liked the system and I decided to try eventually the /mlp/ board.At first,it did cost me to get used to it until more or less summer of 2015.I only have opened 3 threads for the record and I highly doubt I will make another one anytime soon.

I liked the episode anyway.

The big message was the topic of people who react poorly to something, even when you didn't do anything wrong. When you put your heart out on the line and not everyone appreciates it, it can be hurtful. But there's solace when someone understands your intentions and truly appreciates it. That's what I got out of it.

Yes, I'll concede this. Some of that was a bit excessive. Especially, "Twilight was better before she got wings." I guess Larson just couldn't help himself. I think there was too much of this, and as a fan, it kind of took away from the episode as a whole. It shifted the focus from the problem that the mane 6 was facing in the episode, and pointed it towards the fandom. I don't think it ruins the episode, but it was annoying.

I don't think Larson agrees with this mentality and he wouldn't want to encourage it. (I could be wrong; this is based off what I know about him). Besides, the episode was about helping your friends through their flaws. The real point here is that most Equestrians missed the point of the Friendship Journals and took it out unfairly against the Mane 6.

Also, I don't like the trend of these recent songs where they repeat animations. It's like a music video instead of an in-world musical number. I understand the team is kind of rushed these days, but it irks me.

Overall, 6.5/10. One of Larson's worse episodes, but I still enjoyed it.

Still don't like the episode. You can tell it was based on an outdated script cause most of the criticisms felt outdated. The song was nice but didn't feel like it addressed the actual problem of the episode. And with the meta generally taking priority over storytelling, it just felt petty and pointless.

It was a joke, mate. They took something for each of the ponies. AJ is the fabled background pony, so they made her popular. Pinkie is the comic relief, so they made ponies laugh at her. Twilight had the whole thing about wings, Fluttershy about not learning anything, Rarity about... shit, what did they hate again? That her lessons were bullshit? And Dash had her obnoxious fanclub. Everyone had to have something.

Larson himself says that he didn't write the episode. He pitched the idea back when he was still working on the show - he didn't come back to the office to do one episode after a season of nothing to fuck off again - but the pitch went through a lot of changes in the back and forth between the storyboarders and whoever else, so I wouldn't really blame him for everything that's in there, since we don't really know who all as meddling where and what the original idea even was.

Other than that, I mostly agree. I expected something like a deconstruction of the lessons. Ponies complaining that the lessons don't work, arguing about the solutions, someone being mad they're mentioned negatively in the journal. A regular pony episode about the ponies in it, instead the episode was full of meta jokes aimed at the fandom, the whole thing was meaningless, and nobody even tried to be subtle about it.

The song didn't quite catch my attention either. It was generic as fuck, even if the lyrics were good. And agreed on the "music video" aesthetic, leave that to the PMV makers.

Overall it's somewhere between 5 and 6. It didn't hurt the show mostly because it had no plot to be mentioned ever again, it didn't assassinate characters, some of the bits were funny, but overall it was simply meh. Probably because I'm not one for meta humor when it's not even clever.

Obvious reasons being the staff not knowing how much they can say due to NDAs and such. Just like with speaking about future episodes, the staff tries to disclose as little as possible and err on the side of caution to not get into trouble. We will probably never know what happened in the backstage unless Larson speaks up later.
My best guess is that Larson got tasked with writing another meta episode even if he didn't particularly want to, and then the story editors or whoever is in charge added something and removed something because reasons. It's possible that Larson wrote the whole script, but he doesn't want it to be considered "his episode" because it wasn't really his idea to do it.
