Personally, I'm surprised GR15 hasn't been removed from /vip/ yet. It is still an experimental board, and I imagine that having a GR15-free board behind a paywall would actually encourage more people to buy passes. The threat of shitposting and spamming is essentially gone with the paywall since users wouldn't want to waste $20 just to get banned within a few hours. Eventually, it could normalize to the point where GR15 is removed permanently from /vip/ and could open the potential for it to be removed from other boards as well.

2011, the fandom's undisputed golden age, was exactly that.
There was a single thread. R15 in full effect, the only place to post ponies on 4chan, including all the legendary fanfics, art, animations and episode discussion was happening in MLPG.
It's why that single thread made up over 85% of the board's posts when /mlp/ was created.
