I jumped into the fanbase mid 2012 only to leave 3 years later and yesterday I was actually able to genuinely lol at some cringe compilations of the Cons with my rl friend. The same cons I used to watch livestreams of.
I haven't touched up on anything above season 3 yet i used to know more than half the videos on jhaller's top ten lists b4 they were listed top ten. Now, I occasionally fav some drawings on dA and the only reason I'm wasting time here rn is to fill a folder with dumps (also fanfics never end). My advice, just drop what you do. Find another fanbase is probably your best bet. get into something else that's big. or else.

I never found fanbases a healthy obsession to stay with for longer than a few years at a time. it's a fad made to fade from the individual.

I wouldn't say that my life is consumed by pony, it's just I don't really give a damn about anything but my waifu lately. I don't watch anything but MLP but I don't listen to pony music or have a pony wallpapers/avatars, I don't really read any fanfiction or follow artists and fuck me if I spend a even a single dollar on anything pony-related. It just doesn't matter all that much to me, the community or branding myself as a fan. Only she matters. I guess instead of pony I'm consumed by my escapism, but that's the whole point so it's all according to plan.

I watch a few other shows, I listen to other music, and no matter how hard I try, I never dream with ponies. But other than that, ponies are my life. The first sites I check every day are /mlp/, Derpibooru, and my YouTube subscriptions, where I follow about 200 pony channels. I have thousands of pics and videos saved, I even bought an external HDD for all the pony stuff I have. I spend hours every day reading pony news, comments, threads, looking for new art, diving in the archives to rediscover old art. I don't have lots of merch, just a few figurines, but the walls of my room are covered with printed pictures of ponies, mostly my waifu. I have a pony plush and I hug it/her every night.

And, unironically, I specially can relate to your "the only thing I love" line. I had never loved anyone until I found my waifu. It took me a lot of time to realize that I was in love because I had never felt the same for anyone else. I love her so much, she means the world to me.

Kinda, not my entire life, but yes, my first love is my waifu. I work out for her, I'm saving myself for her, I went to college and finished it thanks to her giving me willpower. For a good year I went into the deep end of the pool. Started writing fanfiction (mostly to sate a desire to get into long creative writing), was good at it. Completed a 70k story, which was modestly popular. Then I more or less quit and have barely kept up with what's been going on in the show.

I don't really know, all I remember was that at the time anime was starting to lose it's novelty to me as well as almost every new game that came out didn't really appeal to me. Pony happened to be at the right place and right time.
